R Commander options
I realize this is basic, but I can't figure out the syntax for setting
options for R Commander. I'm running Linux Mint and want to increase the R
Commander font sizes. I see that there are (apparently command line)
options to do so. I have a desktop launcher with the following command
line:
sh -c 'R_DEFAULT_PACKAGES="$R_DEFAULT_PACKAGES Rcmdr" R "$@"'

Private environments and/or assignInMyNamespace
Dear DevelopeRs,
I've been struggling with the new regulations regarding modifications to
the search path, regarding my Rcmdr plugin package RcmdrPlugin.DoE. John
Fox made Rcmdr comply with the new policy by removing the environment
RcmdrEnv from the search path. For the time being, he developed an
option that allows users to put the environment from Rcmdr (RcmdrEnv) on
the search path,

Update problem? Rcmdr disappears, won't re-open
WinXP, R 2.10.1
I just updated R, and now have trouble. Perhaps it was the method I used to
keep all the packages.
I copied all the new packages from 2.10.1 back into the 2.10.0 folder, then
copied them and all the others I've previously added from the 2.10.0 folder
and pasted them back into 2.10.1's appropriate folder.
Is this the source of my troubles?

possible tcltk event loop problem
Dear list members,
Rich Heiberger reported to me last week that the Messages window in the
Rcmdr GUI was freezing -- that is, messages posted to this window didn't
appear -- under Windows and R 2.8.0. I was able to confirm this problem on
three Windows systems, one using Vista and the other two XP. In each case, I
used R 2.8.0 and Rcmdr 1.4-4 (the current version). The problem doesn't

function not in load table
Hi,
I apologize for this often/old question. I found some hints but couldn't
solve the problem so far.
I have C functions (incl. the header files) as well as the R wrapper
functions which I want to use for faster calculations. These functions
are included in a R package.
The installation process seems to be ok (no errors). I also can load the
package without errors. But when I call the

Rcmdr plugins produce error
I recently updated all my plugins, and for the fun of it, I added ALL the Rcmdr Plugins to my collection to see what functionality might exist. I started Rcmdr and loaded ALL the available Plugins from to the Rcdmdr Tools menu.
To my suprise Rcmdr produced a number of warnings and finally an error. The error suggests that some of the extensions are incompatable with each other because of menu

Dear R People:
I'm trying to build a package and am stuck on the last part; I keep
getting "there is no library".
Here are my statements:

r-package-devel is probably a better place to post this, especially if
you do not get a satisfactory reply here. This list is about R
programming, as you presumably know; your query is not.

Dear R People:
I just installed R-2.10.0 on Karmic Koala Ubuntu, via the sudo apt-get

However, when I try to install an Rcmdr Plugin package, I get the following:

Problem with "setMethod" in R package
Dear all,
My apologies for re-posting this question, but I have not found any
solution to my problem so far. I also think that my post may have been
overseen due to the posting time and high traffic on this list.
I experience a problem in implementing a S4 class in a package and would
appreciate your help in this matter.
The class is implemented using Rcpp, which works well. I then extend

How to avoid function masking
Hi All,
I've been working on updating the 'genetics' package. As a consequence of
the upgrade, .First.lib() looks like:
.First.lib <- function(libname, pkgname)
{
if (!require(combinat))
warning("Unable to load 'combinat' library. Function
`diseq.ci' will fail.")

Loading namespaces
I'm creating a package for my own use that uses some S4 classes but no
methods.
I have a file called NAMESPACE it contains the line:
exportClasses("foo")
and at the top of the R file I have
setClass("foo", representation(x="numeric")
and the line:
.onLoad<-function(libname,pkgname)
When I run R CMD check I get Syntax error in the only R file. If I

Hello, all
I am building a R package using Fortran source code. The Fortran code is a
subroutine. I can use "R CMD SHLIB bar.f -o bar.o" to create the shared
library. For the R package, I put the fortran file in the src/ and I use R
code as follows:
".First.lib"<-function(libname,pkgname){library.dynam("barpkg",pkgname,libname)}

loading 'RcmdrPlugin.FactoMineR' pachage in R
Hi everybody
I have a question about loading 'RcmdrPlugin.FactoMineR'
pachage in R.
I have installed Rcmdr, FactoMineR and 'RcmdrPlugin.FactoMineR.
when I want to load this package, at first a message inform me I should load
the following list of packages:
FactoMineR, ellipse, lattice, cluster, scatterplot3d, Rcmdr,

I have loaded all above packages and again I

Class not found when search in .onLoad
Hi,
I am facing with a strange behaviour of isClass and extends when these
are called in .onLoad in both R 2.12.1 and R 2.13.0. This is preventing
my package from doing some object initializations at a proper place
(i.e. in .onLoad).
Suppose one defines two S4 classes in a package, and that one needs to
check the inheritance between these two when loading the package (e.g.
to validate slots

Restrict package to load-only access - prevent attempts to attach it
Hi,
I'm developing a package whose API is only meant to be used in other
packages via imports or pkg::foo(). There should be no need to attach
this package so that its API appears on the search() path. As a
maintainer, I want to avoid having it appear in search() conflicts by
mistake.
This means that, for instance, other packages should declare this
package under 'Imports' or

Not sure for the NAS, but for the Mac, it is probably something like this:
