installing package reshape and plyr on Debian Lenny
Hi all, has anyone tried and possibly succeeded in installing "reshape" package on Debian Lenny? I have a permanent failure because i cannot find the "plyr" package. I tried 10 mirrors. I contacted Hadley Wickham and James Long who seemed to have been closed to do it but it didn't work (meaning so far I haven't the answer from them). So has anyone any ideas as how to

Documentation: format of read.table help text (PR#14180)
Dear R developers, I find the format of descriptions of the arguments in the read.table help text slightly inconsistent. For example, the logical arguments comes in seven different formats, more or less explicit about the consequences of a TRUE (or FALSE): 1. check.names logical. If TRUE then the names... 2. blank.lines.skip logical: if TRUE blank lines... 3. flush logical: if TRUE,

Write.fwf works from Mac, throws different number of row error in Windows
Hello, I am having a problem with write.fwf in Windows. I wrote a code to ingest a number of text files with weather data in them, process them, and then output a text file with two parts: 1) a set of column names, 2) the processed data table. I wrote and tested the program on my Mac, and it worked fine. However, on the windows machine, where I intend the work to be done, when I run the

Help with reshaping data.frame
I'm having trouble reshaping a data.frame from long to wide. (I think that's the right terminology; feel free to educate me.) I've looked at the reshape function and package and plyr package, but I can't quite figure out how to do this after a dozen variations. I have a data.frame with more levels than this, but similar to: > tst K1 K2 K3 V1 V2 V3 1 10 D a 0.08 99

which coefficients for a gam(mgcv) model equation?
Dear users, I am trying to show the equation (including coefficients from the model estimates) for a gam model but do not understand how to. Slide 7 from one of the authors presentations (gam-theory.pdf URL: http://people.bath.ac.uk/sw283/mgcv/) shows a general equation log{E(yi )} = ?+ ?xi + f (zi ) . What I would like to do is put my model coefficients and present the equation used. I am an

object not found whilst loading namespace
I've been updating a package and, when installing a local devel version, I get an error "object 'confusionMatrix' not found whilst loading namespace". Looking around online, it appears that this might be related to loading a specific RData file, but it doesn't seem to be the case AFAICT. I've installed the devel version in the last week without issues and the

qplot in ggplot2 not working any longer - (what did I do?)
This is the first time that I have tried to update packages with a tinkered around with .Rprofile. I start R with R --vanilla and it does not load my .Rprofile, but when I issue the command update.packages() R downloads the packages as expected, but then seems to load .Rprofile before compiling the packages sources. What am I doing wrong? kindest regards, Stephen Sefick see- Session info

lattice grob
Dear list, I'm trying to arrange various grid objects on a page using a frameGrob. It works fine with basic grobs (textGrob, gTree, etc.), and also with ggplot2 objects using the ggplotGrob() function. I am however stuck with lattice. As far as I understand, lattice produces a list of class trellis, which is eventually displayed using the plot.trellis method. I am not sure if/how one can

I want to learn how to use the reshape package. The reshape package is not included in the Ubuntu repositories, so I attempted to install reshape with: install.packages("reshape") This is what I got for output: Warning in install.packages("reshape") : argument 'lib' is missing: using '/home/andy/R/i486-pc-linux-gnu-library/2.7'
