R-help
I have been trying to write a function for the following problem: Suppose I have three vectors a,b,c of different lengths: e.g. a=c(a1,a2,a3,...) where a[i] form the basis of our function variables: if we define a table for example: and define the fn(x) <-function{..sum(argument)..} where x<-c(a,b,c) so that we can maximise fn(x) as:

categorical vs numerical
What ways are there to plot categorical vs numerical data in R. I have two columns: one with categorical data in 5 categories a,b,c,d,e, and a numerical column with integers between 1 and 100. I have used a boxplot with a,b,c,d,e on the x-axis and an increasing numerical scale on the y-axis. This look fine but im looking for other ways to present the data. What other ways can i do this??? --

Authentication & Authorisation - Whats the common approach?
Hi, Just wondering what the most popular approach is for authentication and authorisation in a rails application that is deployed and fronted by apache? Also when there are say a couple of rails apps being hosted. Authentication ============== [1] Options would seem to include: * Do it within rails/your app? Use of a "before_filter" per the Rails Recipes book * Use of Apache to

updating puppetlabs-firewall forge module to line up with whats in the github repo?
Hi there! Is there a timeline on when the puppetlabs-firewall forge module will be updated (not necessarily to 1.0) ? the github version has the firewallchain type (as well as other nifty) that the forge version seems to be lacking, but it''s not clear from my perusing that the two are different. They both appear to be the same version superficially*…. The github version points to the

whats the status on winhlp32?
I am just starting to look into the help side of our application and wanted to check on the status, especially with regard to the following: 1. We have to use the Microsoft winhlp32.exe; there isn't a Wine version? 2. It requires the native comdlg32.dll and/or comclt32.dll to get the Index button to do anything 3. Even then, that will only bring up the index itself, not the contents nor the

Whats required for unblockable ANI / CLID?
For our application we want to read the callers number back to them (calling in on a 800# that would somehow point to multiple lines -- figuring that all out still). I was under the impression that calls to 800#'s are unblockable by the caller (irregardless if they have caller id blocked or not). I'm not sure if this is because of ANI or CLID (or if ANI _is_ CLID) or how any of this

Whats the '411' on echo cancellation?
Hello all, I have a WildCard TE410P setup and working with a full PRI with the latest CVS. SIP and IAX2 gateways are accessing the PRI without issue, however; echo is very prominent in some calls and is only heard by the IAX2/SIP client. The echo Is not present in calls to cell phones because they are digital, centrex land Lines have a barely noticable echo, but analog lines aint so pretty.
