Cairo package failure to load backend
Hi R friends, I've been attempting to create plots with multiple alpha values using Cairo to save them on a windows (32b XP) platform as it doesn't support more than 3 alpha values. This worked well until I wanted a postscript file (unsupported) and as a attempted work around I installed RGtk2. So far so good, however now when I try to use a >CairoPDF("alpha.pdf", 6, 6,

lattice package: line end style
First, apologies for no example data but I don't think it's needed in this case, Q: Can (and if so how ) the line end style be changed for 'cloud' plots? I've tried par(lend=2), trellis.par.set(add.line = list(lend=2)) and much googling but to no avail Thanks in advance Dan P.S. the reason for this is that the round end looks bad at lwd=3 or more Daniel Alcock Malaria

difference of means as response?
Dear R users, I am looking for some advice on the proper construction of a mixed model in R, using the difference in means as the response and treating within-means residuals as a random effect. I have a dataframe (my own, a snippet of which is given below) that is composed of observations of pollen viability in flowers along tree branches. Flowers (1 to 3 per position) were collected from

[LLVMdev] [PATCH] Fix arm sbfx/ubfx generation
Hi, Currently llvm can generate an invalid sbfx/ubfx op, for instance when compiling encoder/analyse.c in x264 (I'll reduce this to a test case if needed): clang -O3 -Wall -I. -isysroot=/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/ Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS3.0.sdk -Qunused-arguments -mno-thumb -mdynamic- no-pic -arch armv7 -mcpu=cortex-a8 -mfpu=neon -mfloat-abi=softfp - DHAVE_ARMV6

It'll break if llvm starts emitting the lsl r0, r0, #3 / asr r0,

[cpfreq][PATCH][2/2] Linux support for the architectural pstate driver
With the third generation Opteron parts, AMD switched to an architecturally defined interface for PowerNow! that uses different MSRs than previous versions. This patch brings the PowerNow! driver up to match the mainline Linux driver and provide support for all AMD parts that use or will use the architectural pstate interface. It also removes a WARN_ON statement in kernel/cpu.c that highlights a

changing ldap passwords?
Samba experts, I am using Samba 3.0.8 on an AIX 5.1 system with ldap authentication. I have ldap working so that users can authenticate in their samba account via ldap. However, I am trying to figure out the best method for allowing users to change their ldap samba account password. What is the best method to allow end users to change their LM/NT passwords for Samba via LDAP? Should

Parallel IR [PIR] --- BoF preparation discussion
Dear community, In preparation for the BoF on Parallel IR at the US developers meeting we would like to collect feedback from the whole community. The concerns, ideas, etc. will be summarized in the BoF and should provide a good starting point for a discussion. We know that over the years the topic of a parallel extension for LLVM was discussed on the mailing list [0, 1, 2], workshops [3, 4] or
