Dragging an .RData file into R on win-7 doesn't work?
Hi all,
I sometimes drag an .RData file into an open R console so to load that data
into the file.
I use windows 7, and it works fine.
But, if I open R by using:
<right click on icon> -> properties -> compatibility -> (mark the box) "run
this program as an administrator"
Then I can no longer drag the .RData into the R console.

Adding a "description" meta-tag to the R homepage (bump)
Hello dear R-devel,
I am allowing myself to bump this issue again (half a year later) -
I think that the www.r-project.org website could benefit from having a
description meta-tag.
Could anyone please let me know who to contact regarding this?
With much respect,
Tal

Capturing R console output into a file (sink+savehistory ??)
After reading more, I understand I didn't formulate my last question
correctly, so please allow me to rephrase:
What I am looking for is a way to save the R console session output.
That is, a command that would combine the results of using:
?sink # And
?savehistory
My motivation for this is that doing it will allow someone who is a blind
user of R to be able to easily export his results to

Getting htmlParse to work with Hebrew? (on windows)
Hello dear R-help mailing list.
I wish to be able to have htmlParse work well with Hebrew, but it keeps to
scramble the Hebrew text in pages I feed into it.
For example:
# why can't I parse the Hebrew correctly?
library(RCurl)
library(XML)
u = "http://humus101.com/?p=2737"
a = getURL(u)
a # Here - the hebrew is fine.
a2 <- htmlParse(a)

Openning multiple (writing) connections to a single file - possible ?
Hello members of the R-help group.
I am trying to run multiple occurences of R (through the distributed
computing of Condor), and have all of them write their output into one
source.
It is similar (I believe), to running R several time on the same machine,
and running on each instance of R the same script. In that script there is a
line saying "write some text into a file", and I wish

Marginal Homogeneity tests for sparse matrixes ?
Hello people,
I am in need for testing Marginal Homogeneity for sparse (more then 2X2)
matrixes.
After searching, what I found by now is that for more then 2 by 2 matrixes,
one turns to "stuart maxwell tests" that are available in two packages:
irr - see: stuart.maxwell.mh
coin - see: mh_test
But I couldn't find in the documentation how valid the results are for
sparse matrixes,

How to read.table with “Hebrew” column names (in R)?
(I am reposting this question after a few months without a solution...)
Hi all,
I am trying to read a .txt file, with Hebrew column names, but without
success.
I uploaded an example file to: http://www.talgalili.com/files/aa.txt
And tried the command:
read.table("http://www.talgalili.com/files/aa.txt", header = T, sep = "\t")
This returns me with:

tricky (for me) merging of data...more clarity
Hi Again,
Thanks very much for your response. It seems my example got rearranged
(transposed?) after I posted it. Hopefully this example will be more
clear. I have one file (ex. sheet 1) that will have a column for
individuals (ind) and a column for the date (date). I would like to merge
this with another file (ex. sheet 2) that has both the 'ind' and date column
as well as associated

New Installs, Same Trouble Loading doBy and coin Packages
I tried Tal's suggestion of deleting the doBy and coin packages and then
reinstalling them from a different mirror. The first install was from the
Harvard mirror and the second was from the Case Western Univ. mirror. The new
packages generate the same errors when I call them using the library() command.
Also, I tried to load these packages using R and its script editor thinking that

Why am I getting different results from cor VS ccf ?
Hi all,
I am getting different results from ccf and cor,
Here is a simple example:
set.seed(100)
N <- 100
x1 <- sample(N)
x2 <- x1 + rnorm(N,0,5)
ccf(x1,x2)$acf[ccf(x1,x2)$lag == -1]
cor(x1[-N], x2[-1])
Results:
> ccf(x1,x2)$acf[ccf(x1,x2)$lag == -1]
[1] -0.128027
> cor(x1[-N], x2[-1])
