Hierarchical factors
Hello,
Hierarchical factors are a very common data structure. For instance, one
might have municipalities within states within countries within
continents. Other examples include occupational codes, biological
species, software types (R within statistical software within analytical
software), etc.
Such data structures commonly use hierarchical coding systems. For
example, the 2007 North

?? 'OpenFile failed. Distribution Media Appears to be corrupt.' ??
I'm trying to run a stock analysis app called NAIC Toolkit 4
in Wine on Fedora Core 2 Linux....
It uses InstallShield I think (it has a fancy GUI installation piece)
so I:
1. installed DCOM98
2. ran EXE file via Wine with WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ole32,oleaut32,rpcrt4=n" switch
This got rid of some errors but now I'm stuck at one last one...

stepAICc
Dear R users,
Would it be difficult to change the code of stepAIC (from the MASS
library) to use AICc instead of AIC?
It would be great to know of someone has tried this already.
Best wishes
Christoph.

Winbind problem
Posted: Thu Jul 15, 2004 11:34 am Post subject: Samba/winbind and ADS
problem
I almost have this.
I have read the docs, I have read this, I have purchased both books from the
samba team, and I cannot find any help from any of these.
We are trying to migrate from OLDDOMAIN (an NT4 Domain) to NEWDOMAIN (our
Win2k3 Domain). I have a two way trust right now between the domains. I have

Slow read performance
Help please-
I am running 3.3.1 on Centos using a 10GB network. I get reasonable write speeds, although I think they could be faster. But my read speeds are REALLY slow.
Executive summary:
On gluster client-
Writes average about 700-800MB/s
Reads average about 70-80MB/s
On server-
Writes average about 1-1.5GB/s
Reads average about 2-3GB/s
Any thoughts?
Here are some additional details:

efficiency and "forcing" questions
Dear R listers --
The program below does the following tasks:
1. It creates a file (wintemp4) that is a subset of alldata4 consisting of
"winner" records in 50 industry groups (about 5400 obs);
2. It defines a function (myppr1) that runs the ppr function in modreg
once to generate goodness of fit (sum of squared errors) measures by number
of terms included in model and then reruns

Possible Conflicts with Junghanns 4 Port BRI and 8 Port Sangoma Analog in Same Box?
I know it is a strange arrangement but due to contracts, it is what it
is, no PRI for now.
I wonder if anyone on the list has run a server with both types of cards
installed? Results?
I have never touched a BRI except in concept and Cisco lab. Not sure
what the BRI stuffed package may or may not do to anything else that
might relate to zaptel or Sangoma.
Thanks,
Steve Totaro

Ton's oftmp files in Outlook Express Folder[VASCL:A165472F8B5]
I have a server running Centos 4.2 with samba 3.0.14a running and using
roaming profiles in a domain setup. There is a user with 125 tmp files
in his Outlook Express Folder. They date back to June of this year
with different sizes from 300K to 65 meg. Is this a sign of a problem
with syncing? This same user has another problem. Let's call the user
jdoe. When he goes to the server

Need help setting up app with Mac OS X Leopard
I have d/l Wine and would like to prepare a Windows app to run on
Leopard.
Any tips for a complete newbie? Nothing seems to happen when I run
Wine, other than the little half-full (or is it half-empty?) glass on
the menu bar.
Many thanks!

[PATCH][1/4][IOMGR] I/O request Manager body
This patch provides a I/O request management framework.
This framework can control virtual block device threads at 7 places :
* deciding that virtual block devices(threads) is ether going or waiting,
* before allocating pending_request variables,
* after allocated pending_request variables,
* after allocated no pending_request variables (Namely, out of request),
* after freed
