inconsistency in treatment of USE.NAMES argument
Changing the vapply() behavior makes sense in principle. I analyzed the CRAN code base using the R parser and found 143 instances of calling vapply with USE.NAMES=FALSE. These would need to be inspected to understand the consequences of the change. For reference: /AzureML/R/datasets.R:226 /BBmisc/R/toRangeStr.R:33 /DBI/R/DBDriver.R:205 /Kmisc/R/str_rev.R:37 /Matrix/R/diagMatrix.R:98

Grandstream surveillance devices
I just got a spam from telephonydepot (which I invited to spam me, so I guess I have to call it legit marketing :) ), and they have some new device that is meant to be a surveillance camera with audio, but the interface is POE and SIP! A cool idea. Anyone playing with this toy yet? I am trying to wrap my head around how asterisk might fit with the model of this camera being

Morans I for Spatial Surveillance
Hello, I am interested in using Morans I for different time intervals to detect disease clusters. Ultimately I would like to use CUSUM - or similar monitoring statistic to monitor the results of Morans I - similar to the work by Rogerson (2005) Spatial Surveillance and Cummulative Sum Methods in Spatial and Syndromic Surveillance for Public Health. Thus far - thanks to the list I have

Aggregate Help
Please let me know if this is or is not the right place to ask these types of questions. Warning: I am new to R by two days. I have a simple dataset. I have loaded the dataset successfully using the following code: Filepath=(C:\temp\\pilot\dataset1.txt") Pilot=read.table(filepath, header=TRUE) Dataset1.txt is delimited and looks like this: Date illness count 2006/01/01 derm 17 2006/01/01

Run R script automatically each morning and email results?
Greetings to all -- I am hoping that someone can offer some insight into an area where I have very little experience. I have written some R code that generates a 90-day plot of temperature vs. mortality. On whatever day the code is run it will grab up-to-date vital statistics data from our server and combine it with up-to-date temperature data from the web. This is a baby step in automated

OT hardware question
With the continuing annoyance from motion, my manager's asked me to go looking again for a video surveillance appliance: basically, a motion-detecting DVR and cameras. The big thing, of course, is a) price (this is a US federal gov't agency, and being civilian, money is *tight*, don't give me the libertarian/GOP line about how freely we spend, thankyouverymuch), b) it has to be on the

OT: hardware: blackmagic video capture cards
Hi, folks, I'm still trying to find a video capture card that won't crash Dell servers, and ran across a Blackmagic BDLKDUO2 DeckLink Duo 2. It claims to support Linux. I'm also seeing, in the few non-Blabkmagic or sales pages I can find, that they like "binary blobs". I also haven't been able to find anything about o/s or library requirements. Has anyone run

OT: Video Surveillance SW on CentOS
I suggested to our Homeowners Association that we begin a Private Forum (phpBB) and web site. That suggestion has been well received and we will proceed with that. Now, I have become involved in a much more complex and important project, which is Video Surveillance, for the entrance to our subdivision. I Googled and found two (2) things for Linux that seem to be OK: (a) ZoneMinder

Is Dual CPU machine solution for using Asterisk with other general apps (like home automation, web server, ...) in home environment ?
Hi, I'm currently thinking of putting more functionalities to Linux server box. Major is Asterisk, but would also like to add video surveillance, home automation and limited (for only domestic up to 4 users) web, file and mailserver apps. I know there are problems running Asterisk with other such apps on same machine - but wonder if I can take advantage of dual processor machine in this

Optimal File Permissions for Shared Access Between Windows and Linux
Rowland, I realized I forgot to mention a few details about specific folders with unique permissions in /mnt/shared that I need to preserve in /mnt/shared/nas: 1. /mnt/shared/video_surveillance: Originally, this folder had drwxrwx--- permissions, with reolink as the owner and surveillance as the group. However, since the surveillance group has been removed, only john_johnk and reolink need

report generator a la epiinfo
Hi I'd like to use R in epidemiology and disease surveillance. In EpiInfo you can have a script (.pgm) which calls a predefined report (.rpt), where a table is calculated and values picked from that table and placed where the author of the report wants them, with text around those values. (Please see example below.) I've looked at manuals, faq, mail-search and google. The closest is an

Grandstream GXW-4108 8 port FXO
Has anyone used either the 8 port or 4 port FXO device from Grandstream? (GXW-4108 or 4104). They seem to be the lowest cost multi port FXO devices that I can find, so I'm getting ready to buy the 8 port version. I just want to see if there are any opinions on the device before I commit to the purchase. If people have not used the Grandstream, are there any issues with using

How to actively join you all
Hello R Community, I am really impressed by the 'R'. I am a computer engineer. Further, I have done work on Linux Code at my home and Worked on Cisco IOS platform. If anybody can tell me the way then please show me the way. I

rollmean help (or similar function)
I am working on a simple pilot project comparing the capability of SQL, SAS and R to perform a rolling mean per the following instructions. I have completed the SQL and SAS analysis, so now it's R's turn. Calculate mean values of x (x=count) for each date in the dataset where mean = the average count of days [t-9] through day [t-3] for each date/illness combination. Dataset aggpilot

inconsistency in treatment of USE.NAMES argument
Hi, Both vapply() and sapply() support the 'USE.NAMES' argument. According to the man page: USE.NAMES: logical; if ?TRUE? and if ?X? is character, use ?X? as ?names? for the result unless it had names already. But if 'X' has names already and 'USE.NAMES' is FALSE, it's not clear what will happen to the names. Are they going to propagate to the result

Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines
