using shapefiles in adehabitat/ converting shapefile to spatial pixel data frame
Hello I wonder if anybody can help, I am using the package adehabitatHR to estimate the potential distribution of a species using the command "domain" In the example given in the AdehabitatHS manual a map containing elevation information is loaded (class= spatial pixels data frame) as well as the GPS points of the animals being tracked, these are then plotted on each other and

variograms and kriging
Hello Trying to develop variograms and kriged surfaces from a point file. Here is what I've done so far. library(gstat) # also loads library(sp) library(lattice) soilpts$x <- soilpts$UTM_X soilpts$y <- soilpts$UTM_Y soil.dat <- subset(soilpts, select=c(x, y, Area, BulkDensity, LOI, TP, TN, TC, Total_Mg)) dim(soil.dat) [1] 1292 7 coordinates(soil.dat) <- ~ x+y

Are centre coordinates or upper left corners used of x, y for SpatialPixels?
Dear all, I'm working with satellite images in R and plotting them via the code below. I was wondering whether coordinates (spatial["x"], spatial["y"]) are used as centre coordinates of the pixels in the GRID? In this script; spatial["x"] & spatial["y"] are the centre coordinates of the satellite image pixels. I'm asking this because some

Getting polygons from contiguous grid cells having same value in sp
I have been using the sp package to deal with gridded data. I would like to know how to extract the vertices (x,y) of polygons that outline areas of like-valued cells in a grid. Here is a simple 3x3 grid: 2 2 1 1 2 1 1 1 3 x <- c(1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3) # define a 3 x 3 array of points y <- c(1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2,3) h <- SpatialPoints(cbind(x,y)) # make these an sp object of the points

Thus far, I've managed to import the data, log-transform the concentrations, assign coordinates, generate and fit a variogram model and

[S] Gstat: multivariable geostatistics for S (R and S-Plus)
The majority of the functionality present in the gstat stand-alone program (http://www.gstat.org/) is now available as a package/library for the S language (R, S-Plus), again called gstat. The package provides multivariable geostatistical modelling, prediction and simulation, as well as several visualisation functions. gstat 0.9-12: cokriging cross validation and class name incompatibilities
I uploaded gstat 0.9-12 to CRAN, which has a few important changes: 1. Cokriging cross validation Cokriging cross validation is now possible with the function gstat.cv: you simply pass a multivariable gstat object, and cross validation is done for the first variable in the object. Optionally, secondary variable records at locations coinciding with the validation locations are removed. 2. Class

How to make Ordinary Kriging using gstat predict?
Hi, I am new in R and trying to implement an algorithm which makes ordinary kriging by using gstat library and the predict method. I use the predict method as following: First, I create an object g: g <- gstat(id="tec", formula=TEC ~ 1, data=data) ## Create gstat object called g And then I use this object in the predict. p <- predict.gstat(g, model=mod, newdata=predGrid,

How to plot the grid figure using R?

default value for cutoff in gstat variogram()
I wonder what is the default value for the argument 'cutoff' when not specified in the variogram.formula function of gstat. Computing variogram envelops within gstat, I am comparing the results obtained with variog in geoR and variogram in gstat, and it took me a while before understanding that the cutoff default value is not the maximum distance. Can Edzer tell us about it? All the

new gstat version
Soon on CRAN a new version of package gstat will emerge, which has a few minor changes and possible incompatibilities w.r.t. the previous version(s). The new gstat (0.9-23) now: + depends on sp, and uses internally with Spatial* classes from sp if data are provided in the old-fashoned way (as data.frame) + has a vignette to get you started with the classes in sp + defines krige as a generic;

REML option in gstat
Hi, please help!! I've been trying to fit variogram models using the REML method in the gstat package. Every time the Windows GUI crashes. For example library(gstat) data(meuse) x <- variogram(zinc ~ 1, ~x + y, meuse) v <- vgm(140000, "Sph", 800, nug = 10000) plot(x, model = fit.variogram(x, model = v, fit.method=5)) Other fit methods are non problematic (eg. fit.method=7

using spplot (sp package) with 5 quantiles
Hi, I'm using R 2.5.1 and gstat 0.9-39 library and I'm working with the jura data set provided by gstat library. I tried to plot a graph of metal concentrations (let's say Cd) with the command spplot, but I realized that the default lags are equally distributed between Min and Max. I did: library(gstat) data(jura) jura.pred.xy <- jura.pred names(jura.pred.xy)[1:2] <-

oggetto gstat
