KMO sampling adequacy and SPSS -- partial solution
Dear colleagues,
I've been searching for information on the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO)
Measure of Sampling Adequacy (MSA). This statistic is generated in
SPSS and is often used to determine if a dataset is "appropriate" for
factor analysis -- it's true utility seems quite low, but it seems to
come up in stats classes a lot. It did in mine, and a glance through
the R-help

Kendall's tau-c
Hello,
I can't find a package which calculates Kendall's tau-c. There is the
package Kendall, but it only calcuates Kendall's tau-b.
Here is the example from
ttp://www2.chass.ncsu.edu/garson/pa765/assocordinal.htm.
cityriots <- data.frame(citysize=c(1,1,2,2,3,3),
riotsize=c(1,2,1,2,1,2), weight=c(4,2,2,3,0,4))
cityriots <- data.frame(lapply(cityriots,function(x)

SEM interaction
Hello all,
This is a general stats question--I realize it is an R help list, so
tell me to go away if it is inappropriate.
I have a 2 X 2 design, and I have specified four identical path models
(one for each level of each factor). I want to test for an interaction
at each path--essentially (A1 - A2) - (B1 - B2) != 0. I was thinking of
computing a contrast for each path of interest, such that

Suse 10.1 with samba servers 3.0.22 & 3.0.23rc3 only seen by Suse 10.1 samba client as cifs
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I have a Suse Linux 10.1 X86_64 server that is destined to work with a
mixed bag of OS/2, Windows and Linux clients. For this reason, I have
again chosen to use the SMB protocol, which mandates the use of samba. I
started with samba 3.0.22, but ran into some glitches so migrated to
3.0.23rc3.
My Linux client is running Suse 10.1 X86_32 with samba

Sortable trouble
Hi everybody,
Could somebody have a look at a little sortable example at
http://www.weisshuhn.de/diagnose/sortable.html
It implements two Sortables and a Draggable. You can drag elements
from the "source" Sortable to the main Sortable, sort them (surprise)
and drag them to a trash. Whenever you drag from the "source", a new
element is created (by cloning an invisible

3D plot of following data
Hello R-experts,
I am having difficulties with 3D plotting (i.e. the evolution of various forward curves through time).
I have two comma seperated files both ordered by date (in the first column) one containing contracts (meaning forward delivery months from YEAR_ & Letter "F" ... January through letter "Z" ... December) and the other holding the closing price of the

BUG: dsync and folder names with "@"
Hello,
the Webside says report bug to the Mailing List, but no reactions so far.
This Bug is really easy to reproduce.. just create a folder like an email
address "spam at mydom.net" and run a dsync backup.
It failes every time when it comes to that folder, if I delete that folder
it runs smoothly

tinc config(?) problems
I'm having a bit of a problem getting tinc up and running between a pair of
RedHat (one 6.0, the other 6.1) boxes. It's installed and configured to the
point where they can connect, but I'm not seeing any traffic passing
between the two systems.
System A looks like -
tinc.conf:
# Sample tinc configuration.
# Insert your own ip numbers instead of the placeholders,

A number of years back it became necessary to limit the size of messages

While it continues be be desirable to block large spam messages, I
believe it is time to ask current subscribers for their preferences.
This list is here to serve the wishes and needs of our subscribers. We
