Genstat into R - Randomisation test
Hello everybody,
I have a question. I would like to get a correlation between
constitutive and induced plant defence which I messured on 30 plant
species. So I have table with Species, Induced defence (ID), and
constitutive defence (CD). Since Induced and constitutive defence are
not independant (so called spurious correlation) I should do a
randomisation test. I have a syntax of my

Syntax in lmer...
Sorry for bothering you - but I have a little problem. I`m completely
new in R and trying to use lmer. That works, but I m not sure if my code
is right, so I would just like to get an opinion from the experts.

Randomisation tests
Hi,
I want to ue a randomisation test, to compare two sample means, for a
small set of data, I've looked at towt.permutation, perm.test and
permtest, as well as permTS(), which is the best one to use for such a
simple purpose? I know perm.test package isn't used anymore and coins
recommended, but reading the manual I couldnt find the function most
like it, ore more likely I

randomisation for matrix
Hi to all,
I am looking for a randomisation procedure for a single matrix,
including a possibility to set the number of randomisations and the to
set the number of row and columns .

[LLVMdev] Entry block (Randomisation)
Hello,
In an attempt to randomise the basic blocks in a function, is it possible that I can randomise the entry block as well? And maybe insert some instructions in the pass to call entry block while running the program ?
Is it feasible?
What does entry block consist of ?
Thanks

Homogenic groups generation - Randomisation
Dear R-users,
We expect to create N homogenic groups of n features from an
experimentation including N*n mesures. The aim of this is to prevent from
group effects. How to do that with R functionalities. Does anyone know any
methodes enabling this ?
Best regards.

randomisation
Dear useRs
I am looking for a way to randomise the values within a matrix:
the conditions are that the sums of the rows and the sums of the columns should
remain the same as in the original matrix.
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers

3-dimensional table
Hi,
Last week my class conducted an experiment by putting out clay
caterpillars to look at the effects of urbanization, color, and location
on caterpillar predation. There were two sites (urban, rural), three
colors (green, yellow, red) and two locations at each site (edge,
interior). The entire data set is below. I've checked out the MASS
book, Dalgaard's book, and the R-help archives

which test for seven groups with dependency in replication and discrete values
hello!
My Problem is, that I want to compare seven groups, which have the
discrete values from 0 to 3. These are damageclasses of plants. 0 is
best and 3 is worst. Every group has 4 replications with 2 plants. The
two plants were together in a cage with animals. I think the problem is
that the two plants are not independent from each other. I don't know
which test I can use for this

Create tables on the fly in rails?
Hello everyone :) Love the mailing list! I read it as much as I can!
Thanks all you RoR guru''s for providing so much help.
Anyways... So say I have Users, and each user can have a list of Plants
that they like. I would want to give each user a table that has many
entries to show me which plants they like. How could I do this?
I don''t know if there''s a way to do

Looping over groups
Hello,
My R skills are somewhere between novice and intermediary, and I am hoping that some of you very helpful forum members, whom I've seen work your magic on other peoples' problems/questions, can help me here.
I have a matrix with the following format:
(i) individual plants comprising many different genotype groups (i.e., a plant is genotype 1 or genotype 2 or genotype 3, etc). The

metafor - interpretion of QM in mixed-effects model with factor moderator
Hi,
I'm using metafor to perform a mixed-effects meta-analysis. I'd like to
test whether the effect is different for animals and plants/whether "group"
(animal/plant) influences the effect size, but am having trouble
interpreting the results I get. I've read previous posts about QM in
metafor, but I'm still a bit confused. I've dummy-coded the factors:

How to identify the two largest peaks in a trimodal distribution
Hello all
I'm trying to do a simulation that involves identifying the minimum
point between two peaks of a (usually) bimodal distribution. I can do
this easily if there are only two peaks:
CnBdens<-density(Ys/Xs) #probability density function for ratio of Ys
to Xs
for(p in 1:512) ifelse(CnBdens$y[p]>CnBdens$y[p-1],peak1<-p,break)
#identifies first peak in probability

split-plot design?
Dear R-gurus,
We are planning an experiment to test if plants produced by selfing are less
fit than those produced by outcrossing. We have plants from three different
alpine valleys, picked randomly among all the possible valleys. In each valley,
we have a number of individuals, also picked at random. seeds from this
individuals were brought back to the green house and sawned. when they
