split data frame and manipulate
Hello, I would like to split the attached data frame based on the DATE variable. I'm having a real problem doing this. I am able to split iso<-read.table(datuh.dat, header=TRUE, sep="", dec=".") #load mylist=split(iso,iso$DATE) #split str(mylist) #result seems a bit odd However, after splitting I'm not able to call up certain variables of the two lists. How to apply functions over rows of multiple matrices
Dear ExpRts, I would like to perform a function with two arguments over the rows of two matrices. There are a couple of *applys (including mApply in Hmisc) but I haven't found out how to do it straightforward. Applying to row indices works, but looks like a poor hack to me: sens <- function(test, gold) { if (any(gold==1)) { sum(test[which(gold==1)]/sum(which(gold==1))) } else NA }

[Fwd: Re: How to apply functions over rows of multiple matrices]
[Apologies to Gabor, who I sent a personal copy of the reply erroneously instead of posting to List directly] [...] > Perhaps what you really intend is to > take the average over those elements in each row of the first matrix which correspond to 1's in the second in the corresponding > row of the second. In that case its just: > > rowSums(newtest * goldstandard) /

rbugs in linux
Hi, I am trying to run the "schools" example in the rbugs library (running winbugs in linux via wine-20041201) but keep getting the following error. Note I have tested wine and winbugs to confirm that both are operational. Error in runBugs(bugs, script.file, n.chains, workingDir, useWine, wine, : BUGS stopped before getting to coda. The command I'm using is:

Openbugs and rbugs on mac with wine
Hello list, I?ve been trying to get OpenBUGS running on my mac using the wine emulator. I can run Openbugs just fine by doing: wine ~/OpenBUGS312/OpenBUGS.exe In the terminal, so OpenBUGS works. When I try to run the schools example using rbugs(), the OpenBUGS process starts in wine, but it just sits there, no log, no script, no output of any sort. The rbugs () call makes the init,

Designing and incorporating a digital filter
I have a time series of data from an electroencephalogram (EEG). I wish to filter the data to get rid of 50Hz mains 'hum'. I have 'designed' a combination bandpass and notch filter using a web- site. The site returns the filter in "ANSI C" source code. It is:- /* Digital filter designed by mkfilter/mkshape/gencode A.J. Fisher Command line:

Click Model Implementation
Hi, Now that the clickstream logging PR (#161) is close to getting merged I'm starting to move onto the next step i.e. the implementation of DBN click model for which I think it'd be best to discuss the approach that I intend to take and the classes required. I'm thinking of starting with the implementation of a base class Model to enable the implementation of DBN click model as its

RFC: Improving performance of HashString
According to... https://github.com/rurban/smhasher/blob/master/README.md Bernstein has quality problems (while xx is as good as you get in a non-crypto hash), and xx is 7x (32 bit) - 12x (64 bit) faster. That's on long strings. It would be worth checking the startup overhead for typically short identifiers in programs. See later on in the README: "When used in a hash table the

RFC: Improving performance of HashString
I've been working on improving the startup performance of lldb, and ran into an issue with llvm::HashString. It works a character at a time, which creates a long dependency chain in the processor. On the other hand, the function is very short, which probably works well for short identifiers. I don't know how the mix of identifier length seen by lldb compares with that seen by

DOE and interaction plot general question
This is a general question about Design of experiments. If i am not allowed to post general questions like this here please accept my apologies and ignore the question. I did a DOE with six factors in eight runs. I know i cannot check for interactions using this design, but i tried the interaction plot and it showed me many interactions. After this I foldover the design and ran the 8 runs to learn
