No CHM file
I just built a package in R (version 2.1.1 on a Linux machine) and then moved it to my computer (R version 2.8.1 on a Windows machine). When I loaded the package and tried to open help for one of the commands, I got the following warning: Warning message: In print.help_files_with_topic("F:/R/R-2.8.1/library/REEMtree/chm/RMSE") : No CHM help for 'RMSE' in package

Wishlist: Navigate to "Index" page of help when no topic specified (PR#13860)
Hi all, When I install a new package, and don't yet know any function names, I have to play the "poor man's game" to get to the standard help system "Index" page for the package: Poor Man's Game -=20 Load new package;=20 issue search() command; find position (say N) of loaded package;=20 issue objects(pos =3D N) command; get name of a random function (san

help in R 2.9.x for R 2.10.x packages
[Env: Win Xp] Is there any options() setting or call to help() or help.start() that will allow me to view a help file for a package built under R 2.10.x under R 2.9.2? I'm using both R 2.9.2 and R 2.10.1, but prefer the former because the CHM help is so much easier to use. Yet, if I install a package built for R 2.10.x, I can't find *any* way to display a help file in this package.

building packages: hhc.exe not found using xp
Hello, Apologies in advance if this should be in R-devel, not Rhelp. I did read through the R-devel thread started by Gabor Grothendieck in September of this year - I am getting the exact same error using a new computer that has XP installed, not vista, complaining that the file hhc.exe is not found. I have downloaded the hhc.exe to HTML Help Workshop dir in Program Files but it says that

options(chmhelp = TRUE)
Hi all, Here's a curosity I ran into since upgrading to 1.6.2 (precompiled for Windows). When using the chm help I get the following warning. I saw a recent post regarding this as a new warning (``dyn.load warning message in R1.6.2 on Windows XP'' dated 1/28/03), but not in the context of the help system. The warning only appears once and does not prevent the chm file from

Build R-patched from Source
Hi, If I want to build R-patched from source (on Windows), do I need to edit Makefile and/or MkRules at all? I have followed all instructions in the INSTALL file (under R-patched/src/gnuwin32/), as well as downloaded all the files from http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/Rtools/ . My PATH variable has been modified accordingly. Now, with the only change to MkRules I made was to modify the Tcl/Tk

Innstalling packages in Vista
Hi I am having problems innstalling new packages in R on my vista system. The error message was Error in zip.unpack(pkg, tmpDir) : cannot open file 'C:/Program Files/R/R-2.4.1/library/file195610e4/tree/chtml/tree.chm When I tried to find a solution to the problem it became clear to me that I was not the only one having the same problem. R-2.4.0 and MS Vista OS - installing packages
I have installed Microsoft Vista Release Candidate 1, and R-2.4.0, on a 4 year old DELL box with a 2.26 GHz P4 and 1 gig. It was a clean install ? R is the only non-MS program running. I cannot install packages from CRAN, nor from local zipped files. using chm help files under linux
Hi, Chm (compiled help) is a microsoft invention. It's the default help system under windows, but not so under linux. I found that (at times) I like better how chm help looks. Since there are chm viewers under linux, using chm help files should be possible. Has anybody tried to set R so it opens chm by default? I'm sure there's some flag or Rprofile var that could get this done.

Cannot activate chm help in R 2.10
Dear all, I just tried to be fast for once, installed R 2.10 and also newly installed all previously-installed packages. However, now all my help files are text only, which is of course a pity with the new possibilities of links between help pages. What can I do to re-activate chm-help? chm-help does not work for anything, not even base functionality. My system is Windows XP, German locale
