More than one parameter with link_to_remote
Hi all, I''m trying to pass more than one parameters using link_to_remote, but I''m getting a behaviour that seems quite strange to me. Here''s the code: link_to_remote ''some text'', :update => ''form'', :method => ''get'', :url => { :action =>

mongrel parser for server response
I''m taking a stab at creating a parser to parse the server response using the mongrel parser as a base. Never having used a parser like Ragel before in my life, I''d like some input on the following for parsing an http server response. This is part of my modified version of http11_parser.rl. In particular what would be better than using ''any'' to match the

Trac Triage - Time to fix them
Hey Guys, All the tickets in our database now have a milestone of 1.0 or 1.x. The current plan is to fix all the 1.0 blockers before the 1.0 release and leave the 1.x defects till later. To view the list of blockers you need this report http://dev.rubyonrails.org/report/9 Now, as we''re all pragmatic programmers the next step should be to create unit tests that expose each of those

Part 2 of ONLamp.com Rails article is online
ONLamp.com has finally published part 2 of my Rails article! You can find it here: http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2005/03/03/rails.html It would be really nice if we could get this slash dotted again before the weekend. >From what I understand, you''re more likely to get accepted when multiple people submit something. So, to anyone who has the inclination: if you would submit

Rails 1.1.5: Mandatory security patch (and other tidbits)
We''re still hard at work on Rails 1.2, which features all the new dandy REST stuff and more, but a serious security concern has come to our attention that needed to be addressed sooner than the release of 1.2 would allow. So here''s Rails 1.1.5! This is a MANDATORY upgrade for anyone not running on a very recent edge (which isn''t affected by this). If you have a public

MVC and modules. Views telling models to behave
I was thinking today, it would be nice if a view could tell a model how to format it''s data for that particular view. Kind of like, the view is bestowing instant, and temporary knowledge on the model for the duration of the views run. It seemed to me that this would be more objecty than say a helper that formats a string format_my_string( my_string ) Instead, in my view. Lets assume I

0.3.13.4 Pre-Release -- Almost Ready
Hi folks, I just put a pre-release of Mongrel up for people to try. You can install it with: gem install mongrel --source=http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/releases/ And try out your application and confirm the stuff works. USE RFUZZ AND RUBY If you find a bug, I''d appreciate it if you can go grab RFuzz (or use net/http) and work up a little bit of Ruby that demonstrates the bug. If

bug triage guide
Hello I was wondering if someone could put together a bug triage guide and put it on the wiki. I was looking for something to do tonight and z00dax said go hunt some bugs. So I went first to the wiki to look for a guide for a proper procedure on how the team would like bug triaging handled but didn't find one. I have triaged before but i know every place is different. So some guidelines

Still need help with ticket triage
As everyone probably realizes, I''m getting swamped with incoming problems and tickets and I still need help triaging the tickets. James Turnbull has volunteered to help some, but I think we need more than one person. We''ve had a few people step in once or twice, but I''d like to be able to depend on Unreviewed tickets getting handled by someone else, rather

Returning custom error messages in ActionWebService
I want to return my own error messages from an API instead of letting the client see the stack trace. I''m returning a custom structure so I guess I could just put a member in that structure for the error message, although that seems like kind of a hack. Any suggestions? Chris

(Online) documentation for 1.0
With the big One-Oh on it''s way, I''m thinking we should perhaps start to work on the documentation some more. The RDoc format is perfectly fine, and does its job beautifully, but I think it doesn''t quite reflect the whizbang value that rails has, especially for newcomers. As one who has looked at the api docs almost daily for several months, I feel quite comfortable

Monthly billing and payment processor recommendations?
Hi, I''m setting up a site that will bill on a monthly basis. I would rather not have to worry about storing customer credit card information. Does anyone have recommendations on payment processors that offer monthly billing services? I don''t want to go the paypal route as I want the user to stay on the site. I''m hoping to find an API to integrate with. I have

The Wine project needs YOU to help triage bugs!
Wine is approaching the 0.9 release, and it's time to start fixing all the lingering bug reports in Wine's bug database. You can help the Wine developers do this even if you're not a developer yourself! All you have to do is spend an hour trying to reproduce a bug that somebody else filed. If you're interested, please go to http://kegel.com/wine/qa for step-by-step instructions.

Mongrel grammar file
Hey Zed, any chance you mind sharing the grammar file you use with lemon to create the parser? I''ve been meaning to sit down and learn how to use one of those things. If not, any suggestions on a good resource for learning how to use a LALR parser?
