obtaining the values for the hazard function in a cox regression
Hello ,
I am hoping for some advice regarding obtaining the values for the
hazard function in a cox regression that I have undertaken. I have a
model in the following form, analysed with the package survival (v.
2.34-1) and a log-log plot obtained using Design (v. 2.1-2).
For two variables, the lines in the survival curves crossed. The
statistician I been obtaining advice from (who does not

stratified variables in a cox regression
>Hello,
I am hoping for assistance in regards to examining the contribution
of stratified variables in a cox regression. A previous post by Terry
Therneau noted that "That is the point of a strata; you are declaring
a variable to NOT be proportional hazards, and thus there is no
single "hazard ratio" that describes it". Given this purpose of
stratification, in the

Error in check(itp) : object does not represent a K sample problem with censored data
Hello,
I have two questions regarding a survival analysis I have been
working on. Below is the code to date.
The variables:
1) recidivism$intDaysUntilFVPO are the number of days before an
violent offence was committed - if no offence was committed than the
days between court hearing and end of data collection was recorded.
2) recidivism$intDaysUntilFNVPO are the number of days before a

coxph diagnostics plot for shape of hazard function?
Hi,
I've been banging my head against the following problem for a while
and thought the fine people on r-help might be able to help. I'm
using the survival package.
I'm studying the survival rate of a population with a preexisting
linear-like event rate (there are theoretical reasons to believe
it's linear, but of course it's subject to the usual sampling noise)

XP does not join domain
hi,
i've the following problem: i want a XP pro sp1 to join my samba (3.0.5)
domain (MHC). with my first try it complained that it could not resolve:
_ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.MHC
i've fixed this with the following DNS setup:

_ldap._tcp.MHC. 600 IN SRV
0 100 389 server.MHC.

Checking for different hazard distributions in interval censored data
Hi all!
I have two survival data sets looking at similar effects in different settings. One data set is only right censored, but the other is interval censored. In the right censored data set, there is an effect of one factor that causes very different shapes in survival curves (and non-proportional hazards) and I'd really like to say that the same factor has a similar effect in the other

Estimate of baseline hazard in survival
Dear All,
I'm having just a little terminology problem, relating the language used in
the Hosmer and Lemeshow text on Applied Survival Analysis to that of the
help that comes with the survival package.
I am trying to back out the values for the baseline hazard, h_o(t_i), for
each event time or observation time.
Now survfit(fit)$surv gives me the value of the survival function,
S(t_i|X_i,B),

andersen plot vs score process or scaled Schoenfeld residuals to test for proporti0nal hazards
Dear all,
I use the Andersen plot to check for proportional hazards assumption for a
factor (say x) in the Cox regression model and obtained a straight line that
pass through the origin. However, the formal test done by the R-function
cox.zph, which is based on the plot of Schonefeld residuals against time,
indicates that proportional hazards assumption is violated. Further, a plot
of the score

smbd 100% systemload
hi,
i've a debian sarge setup with samba 3.0.10 with ldap as SAM backend. every
thing used to work as expected, but last week the machine went down. an
analysis of the problem has showen, that with increasing uptime there is a
growing number of smbd processes that caus 100% CPU utilation. tests have
showen, that i can kill these processes without harming smb conecctivtiy.

RE: [S] worked in R, but not in S-Plus
The following works, you need to include x=TRUE in the call to coxph.
Passing the time and status variables as additional arguments is a matter of
personal preference.
f.coxph.zph<-function(x, timeVar, statusVar)
{
cox.fit <- coxph(Surv(timeVar, statusVar) ~ x, na.action =
na.exclude, method = "breslow", x=TRUE)
fit.zph<-cox.zph(cox.fit)
fit.zph$table[,3]
}

i've setup wine with winetools and installed the baan cleint for windows. at
a first sight every thing seems to work. a closer look showed a font
problem. when you look at the atatched jpg's you can see, that the numbers
do not fit the entry field. compare linux.jpg and windows.jpg. i'm not
shure if this is a font problem or some thing else. sadly this is a

cox.zph vs log-log survival plot
Hello,
Excuse me for a more methodological than technical question. I'm developing a Cox model with 10 covariates. One of them is age (named "eta"). I've checked proportionality with cox.zph with age continuous:
> cox.zph(coxph(Surv(TTP,CENSOTTP)~eta))
rho chisq p
eta -0.0154 0.0225 0.88
and categorical (eta<60):

fairnat with squid + Squid with ZPH
Hi,
I''m trying to share internet on a LAN
I''ve a linux router with SQUID (with ZPH support) + FAIRNAT
The idea is:
- fairness sharing internet
- priorize interactive traffic
- if a web object is on squid-cache (HIT), user
can download it, with a rate = LAN rate
I''ve:
- Last Fairnat Script: www.metamorpher.de/fairnat/
- SQUID 2.5STABLE5 with ZPH patch

Changing axis labels in plots of zph objects (survival analysis)
Hi,
I am using the Survival package, more precisely the cox.zph function, to plot log(Hazard rate) over time.
if I type
plot(temp.zph[2])
then I get the plot I want. However, I want to change the label of the y axis that cox.zph prints.
plot(temp.zph[2],xlab='Days', ylab='log hazard for Fast recovery cluster')
then I get
Error in plot.default(range(xx), yr, type =

I''ve used old ZPH patch under squid 2.4 Stable4
and it works great !
Now I want to patch squid 2.4 stable 5,
with new patch, on http://www.it-academy.bg/zph/
I''ve patched and installed squid 2.5 stable 5
succefully, but I can''t get ZPH works.

i'm running smaba 3.0.4 with share level user and domain logon.
as a first test i've created a direcotry using windows explorer. now i try
to assing a group to this dir. when i click OK i get a messeage that tells
me, that i'm not permited to do this. samba log shows:

smbd 100% cpu usage
hi,
i've a problem with samba 3.0.2. there is one windows ME client which used
to work with out any problems. now, as soon as the user connects
(sharelevel: user, or share - i've tried both) on smbd is forked which
causes 90 to 100% cpu load. when i stop samba (smbd/nmbd) this proces does
not die i can only get rid of it whit a kill -9. with this no data can be
transfered from or to
