Hi Shorewall people, I Have been using Shorewall for a few years now. I am fairly familiar with the basics but this issue has me stumped. Games that are accessed via Steam (Specifically Dota 2 and TF2) No longer work for me. Before I say anything else, these games both work when I bypass the firewall and plug my machine directly into my modem. I have attached my Dump file and my Rules file just in case they might be of value. One of the reasons I have been unable to troubleshoot this issue on my own is that I cannot find any actual error messages. Everything seems to be running as expected but I still cannot connect to these games. An interesting illustration of this issue is as follows: Here is the standard timeout and retry from the Dota2 console: 780.539: Sending UDP connect to public IP 146.66.155.75:27086 Retrying And this entry from syslog indicating the successful outgoing packet send: Apr 14 15:24:34 Jesse-Linux kernel: [ 2910.148014] Shorewall:loc2net:ACCEPT:IN=eth0 OUT=eth1 MAC=90:fb:a6:3c:b3:03:00:23:54:91:05:53:08:00 SRC=192.168.0.150 DST=146.66.155.75 LEN=48 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=127 ID=8310 PROTO=UDP SPT=27005 DPT=27086 LEN=28 But I can find no evidence of a return packet or drop. For a bit of anecdotal background, I know the issue is not with the specific Dota servers because I was trying to lay with friends, one of whom also runs Shorewall, and he was able to get into the game without issue. So it seems as though packets are going out but they are not able to to return. Please help if you can, I am sure some of you are gamers as well and you can imagine how while this may not be mission critical it is frustrating. I will provide any more information that may be required to sort this out.
