Hello. I have stumbled on a recently introduced but small bug that you should be aware of. I have been unable to find any mention of this by others after searching the mailing archives and the web. According to your "Problem Reporting Guidelines" here is the required info: $ /sbin/shorewall version 4.5.16.1 # cat /proc/version Linux version 3.2.0-4-686-pae (debian-kernel@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 4.6.3 (Debian 4.6.3-14) ) #1 SMP Debian 3.2.41-2+deb7u2 Description of problem - The command "shorewall -qq check" no longer quiets a successful check, but prints "Checking...". In fact, a large number of -q''s still prints this output. In my prior version, 4.5.5.3, this output was silenced by -qq. I do not believe the current result is the intent of the devs. Working with 4.5.5.3: # shorewall -q check Checking... # shorewall -qq check Not Working with 4.5.16.1: # shorewall -qq check Checking... # shorewall -qqqqqqqqq check Checking... I will be happy to provide more detail if requested but I believe this to be all that is necessary for this report. I use the above command in a simple bash script that retrieves country lists from the web, then updates the shorewall blrules file. If anyone is interested in this script let me know. At this point the reported bug is only a minor annoyance when the cron job running my script sends email that normally should not be generated. Thank you very much for your work. BTW, while I am still quite a networking novice I do attribute most of my knowledge to reading your shorewall guidelines and instructions over some years. Almost anytime I have a networking question I first search the shorewall pages for detailed but easy to understand explanations. Thank you so much! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This SF.net email is sponsored by Windows: Build for Windows Store. http://p.sf.net/sfu/windows-dev2dev
