Instalation of lastest version of Shorewall in Debian
I want to use lastest version of Shorewall in my fresh debian squeeze instalation, so I follow http://www.shorewall.net/Install.htm#Debian but, modify preferences file was not enough for me, I have to modify/add some other files in /etc/apt/ directory: 1.) include testing repo to source.list 2.) add APT::Default-Release "stable"; to apt.conf and pinning all other packages to stable release, by adding: Package: * Pin: release a=stable Pin-Priority: 600 to preferences file Someone had the same difficulty? The above configuration is correct? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The demand for IT networking professionals continues to grow, and the demand for specialized networking skills is growing even more rapidly. Re: Instalation of lastest version of Shorewall in Debian
Thanks Fábio, I follow http://www.shorewall.net, then "Documentation" link, "Index" link in Shorewall 4.4, "Instalation/Upgrade" link and, finally, "install the .deb" link. I think that page is up-to-date (at the beginning of the page has, I presume, the last modified date - 2011/05/14) So if I modify only the preferences file, as documentation indicates and run "apt-get install shorewall-perl" in Debian Squeeze then version 4.4.11 will be installed and I want to use a fresh version. If I make changes according to the previous e-mail then I was able install version 4.4.23.3 w/o updating all Debian to Testing Em 19-10-2011 17:38, Fábio Rabelo escreveu:> Sorry, but the instructions you have followed are not up to date, > follow this page : > > http://www.shorewall.net/ > > > And all you will need is a mere : > > apt-get install shorewall-perl > > That''s what I use . > > > Fábio Rabelo > > > > 2011/10/19 "José D. From Roberto''s page: "Please note that these packages are built for Lenny. If you want Sid or Squeeze versions of these packages, please obtain them from the official Debian archives. If you are interested in an Lenny version of a package that I currently maintain, then please look for the package at Backports <http://www.backports.org>. If you find the package neither here nor there, then please either mail me or file a wishlist bug against the package." My mistake. I had updated the web content months ago (when Squeeze released) but forgot to upload it to the webserver. I just pushed the update. Anyhow, I have been providing Squeeze packages for some time. Regards, -Roberto On Thu, Oct 20, 2011 at 12:20:02PM -0200, "José D.
