I have a simple question. In Shorewall 4.0 I was able to start the dhcp client to my ISp in the init script. This was being done in shorewall-lite. I tried to upgrade one of my firewall to version 4.4.1 and I''m having a hell of a time getting the dhcp client to start. If I put the commands in the params file then they are executed several times. Where would I put the commands to start DHCP client so that shorewall will obtain an IP address for the firewall Ethernet connections that would still keep my firewall relatively safe. Use your distribution''s network configuration tools to configure your interface for DHCP. -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ When I die, I want to go like my Grandfather who Shoreline, \ died peacefully in his sleep. Both compilers simply copy the init file into the generated script and run it which the script starts. Without details, we can''t give any additional advice. -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ When I die, I want to go like my Grandfather who Shoreline, \ died peacefully in his sleep. Shorewall 4.4.1 has been submitted to Debian and will be appearing later in Testing (Squeeze). I have written a Lenny->Squeeze upgrade article which should be of general interest to anyone moving from an earlier release (Shorewall-shell) to Shorewall 4.4 (Shorewall-perl). http://www.shorewall.net/LennyToSqueeze.html -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ When I die, I want to go like my Grandfather who Shoreline, \ died peacefully in his sleep.
