Does Shorewall by default block port 8080? Because if I change it to 8181 then the server can response. Please advice, TIA. port 8080 is used primarily for proxy servers. Some or many ISP''s will/can block it is you are not on business link without any restrictions. When Shorewall is up, on his default configuration, all ports should be blocked unless you open them manually. If port 8181 works, then most likely the problem is with your ISP. sangprabv wrote:> Does Shorewall by default block port 8080? Because if I change it to > 8181 then the server can response. No, shorewall does not block 8080 by default. Are you sure your server is listening on port 8080? Is there anything in the logs that show you why it is not working? There are three Sample configurations released with Shorewall; they are desribed in the following articles: - http://www.shorewall.net/standalone.htm - http://www.shorewall.net/two-interface.htm - http://www.shorewall.net/three-interface.htm Each sample has specific characteristics but in general they all block everything from the ''net'' zone and they block nothing from the ''loc'' zone to the ''net'' zone (''fw'' zone to the ''net'' zone in the case of the standalone sample). Individual distributions may also include ''example'' configurations. So without knowing which ''example'' you copied and where the client and server are in relationship to the firewall, we cannot know what the ''default'' behavior of your firewall will be. -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ When I die, I want to go like my Grandfather who Shoreline, \ died peacefully in his sleep. I got confirmation from my ISP, and yes the block 8080. Now the problem solved. Thanks for all responses.
