Excellent! If I may ask, is there a particular reason of which you are aware that Shorewall 3.0.7 is the most recent version in the official Debian repositories? Thanks! You can help by testing the 3.2.4 packages that I announced -- as Roberto Sanchez posted, the more feedback and testing that those packages get right now, the more likely it is that we will have a 3.2.4 version of Shorewall in Etch. -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool Shoreline, \ http://shorewall.net Washington USA \ teastep@shorewall.net PGP Public Key \ https://lists.shorewall.net/teastep.pgp.key ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more? Actually, I guess I should''ve clarified. While I know that Debian''s testing procedures are usually quite rigorous, I am accustomed to seeing the bleeding edge stuff in unstable. I was a little confused to find out that 3.0.7 was the latest unstable version as well. As for testing 3.2.4, I installed it right after you mentioned the package existed. :) I''m running a two interface firewall with traffic shaping and seven static IPs on the external NIC. And, for what it''s worth, everything is working perfectly. The traffic shaping is working better than I ever managed to get it running myself (with my limited experience). Thanks muchly for this fantastic little piece of software! Cheers, Zach ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more? Admittedly neither has a complex configuration. There is one difference in /sbin/shorewall between the package and the latest erratum: --- /sbin/shorewall 2006-09-27 15:33:39.000000000 +0100 +++ shorewall 2006-10-13 18:29:51.000000000 +0100 @@ -1124,6 +1124,8 @@ esac done + [ $VERBOSE -lt 2 ] && VERBOSE=2 + [ -n "$debugging" ] && set -x [ $# -eq 0 ] || usage 1 clear_term Bug #369880 and my duplicate #376517 are fixed, so will be #380199 (severity important) and #380201. As far as I can see Lorenzo''s packaging has picked up all the new files in 3.2 so it should work even for all the fancy features I don''t use :) Nick ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more? By the way that file must be reviewd because it says this: " After the installation of the package the configuration directory /etc/shorewall/ will remain empty, except for: 1. shorewall.conf" and in a clean installation of the .deb you got 3 files: -rw-r----- 1 root root 435 2006-03-11 16:03 Makefile -rw-r----- 1 root root 32050 2006-10-15 14:46 shorewall.conf -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 2006-10-17 11:34 tcstart Regards. -- Jorge Armando Medina Calcom de México S.A de C.V.
