Shorewall users - Sep 2006 - Best TOS for VoIP

Hi Everybody,

I have just started using the shorewall built-in traffic control, but I
don''t know which TOS is the best for VoIP in my case?
It''s just my private network, so there are usually 1-2 simultaneously
conversations at a time, running at 32kb upload each. But as soon as I start
using eg. HTTP on my computer, while speaking at the phone, the conversation
is beginning to lag. My line is a 2048/512kbps, so the bandwidth would be
big enough...

I have tried to use tos-minimize-delay, but is does not seem to work very
well. Any ideas for the best solution?

Forget TOS for the moment. Start by tuning your IN-BANDWIDTH setting as
described in the Shorewall Traffic Shaping documentation.
