I log to MySQL DB with Ulogd and use the following web interfaces for viewing logs: http://www.inl.fr/Nulog.html http://webfwlog.sourceforge.net/ I know that does not answer your question as you are logging to syslog, but I thought I would share this in case you might want to alter how you are logging your messages. -- http://photo-gallery.gemneye.org:1115/Gallery/ This is what you said simon dcunha> > Dear All, > > I have installed shorewall firewall and i workin grt > > I am right now loggin shorewall logs to syslog .. > > I would like to analyse shorewall logs in A WEB INTERFACE grafically > > can anyone help me out or tell me the link of software which does this > > > Thanks and regards > > > simon > > > -- > Simon D''cunha ( NETWORK ADMIN ) > KUWAIT MUNICIPLAITY > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting > language > that extends applications into web and mobile media. Better still, upgrade to a distro that is supported by the developers (e.g. FC 5, SUSE 10, Debian, etc.). Paul
Dear All, I have recently installed shorewall on redhat linux 9 and its working fine but i have a query when i run shorewall start i see the following messages Validating Policy file... Determining Hosts in Zones... loc Zone: eth1:0.0.0.0/0 net Zone: eth0:0.0.0.0/0 where loc is my local network and net is my external or internal my local network is actually 172.16.2.0 n my external network is public IP network i am jus wondering why my loc zone is showing 0.0.0.0/0 n my net zone is showing also 0.0.0.0/0 instead of 172.16.2.0 or how do i specify it in the policy file Thanks and Regards Simon ------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more? Simon, Your machine should be more than powerful enough to serve a few dozen people. What you''d need to make sure is that you''ve set the RAM limit correctly and the disk limit correctly. IIRC for every 1GB of disk data you''ll need 10MB of RAM. See http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/FAQ/FAQ-8.html for details. Apart from this, you''ll also need to ensure that you have enough threads of any helper programs that you may run - squidGuard, etc. If there are not enough threads, then some requests are going to be dropped. A third point is to run a caching DNS on your box. This will reduce the latency for the requests tremendously - if you don''t have enough threads this will make sure your requests are served quickly, therefore letting more requests to be served by squid. BTW, shorewall does not run continuously, it reads the config files and updates the iptables and tc, and quits. You will not find shorewall taking any resources. It''s iptables in the kernel that will be active when packets flow. Hope that helps, Prasanna. and make sure you have set the ulimit to 5120 before you compile the squid in case you need to serve hundreds or more users.
