Hi people. Once again I find my self building a router/fw with multiple ISP connections. Some months ago (maybe even more than a year) I used patches found at http://www.ssi.bg/~ja/nano.txt for a 2.4 kernel, and I posted here lots :) and after advise from Tom I posted a few things on the netfilters list. What I ended up with was a working router that was too scared to touch, and packages that I was too afraid to upgrade. So now I reading through http://shorewall.net/MultiISP.html and many other docs to get myself "back in the game" But a question has risen in my wee little brain. In that doc, it mentions shorewall builds routing tables (obvious really) etc etc etc My question: I''m planning on using a 2.4 kernel (due to the smaller size) do I need to apply any patches to my kernel to get MultiISP routing to work? Thanks Paul. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media. Given that 2.6 has been available for more than two years now, knowledge about 2.4 is growning faint within the general Linux population. Folks that do embedded work (such as the LEAF/Bering project) are probably the ones who have the most current information about 2.4. and just for the records, why are you planning to use an (really) old 2.4 kernel in a new installation? Size is the issue here .. I''m making an embedded fw Thanks Tom. I''ve been watching the leaf-user list .. might try the devel list too Tom Eastep wrote:><leaf-devel@lists.sourceforge.net> > >-Tom > >------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media. I''m running a 2.4.27 kernel with multiple ISPs and had to apply several kernel patches. I had to use a 2.4 kernel because 2.6 tended to crash when the multi-hop gateway came up and I didn''t want to figure out why. - Russel Riley ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul W" <paul@loudas.com> To: <shorewall-users@lists.sourceforge.net> Sent: Tuesday, March 07, 2006 1:35 PM Subject: Re: [Shorewall-users] Multi ISP preperation> Can somebody confirm ??
