I have combed over my config and cannot find the problem here. I can ping the gateway on my pubic interface, so I know that my public interface is on the right network. However, I cannot get past that point which is telling me I have a gateway setting goofed up somewhere. Would anyone mind taking a look at my config to see what I have wrong? (And yes, I know, I am using the ugly horrible redirect rules for DNAT) Thanks! ________________________________________ Chip Burke ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is Sponsored by the Better Software Conference & EXPO September 19-22, 2005 * San Francisco, CA * Development Lifecycle Practices Agile & Plan-Driven Development * Managing Projects & Teams * Testing & QA Security * Process Improvement & Measurement * http://www.sqe.com/bsce5sf

Maybe "However, I cannot get past that point" means something specific to you but it is NOT a problem report. If I were forced to guess, I would suppose that you can''t ping Internet hosts (by IP address) that are known to accept ping requests. Is that what you mean? Second, if you "...have a gateway setting goofed up somewhere..." how could we possibly know what the correct settings are supposed to be? We only have a couple of ifcfg files (which appear to be from RedHat or Fedora but you haven''t told us that either) and the settings there indicate that your IP address is 66.193.183.5/26 and that the default gateway is 66.193.183.1. Is that what the settings are supposed to be? Also, you haven''t told us where you are pinging from: the firewall, a local host, your neighbor''s house across the street? If the problem occurs from the firewall, then if you "shorewall clear" does it suddenly work? -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool Shoreline, \ http://shorewall.net Washington USA \ teastep@shorewall.net PGP Public Key \ https://lists.shorewall.net/teastep.pgp.key
