Fooling a machine on one subnet that another (on a different subnet) is on the same subnet.
Hi, I''m sure this is to be solved using either masq, snet (I hope the former) or proxyarp. I''ve recently bought a Netgear MP101. It requires the music library to be on the same subnet as itself. Unfortunately my music library is on 192.168.2.0 and the MP101 resides on 192.168.3.0. Shorewall sits in the middle doing a great job and using masq, everyone on either subnet can interface with the other. Q. How can I make the MP101 believe that the music from 192.168.2.1 is coming from 192.168.3.?. TIA John PS. I know Tom has written copious help directions and examples, and believe me I''ve read most of them, but I''m still in the dark. ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Discover Easy Linux Migration Strategies from IBM. Re: Fooling a machine on one subnet that another (on a different subnet) is on the same subnet.
Say 192.168.2.0 corresponds to eth2 and 192.168.3.0 to eth3. Your MP101''s IP is 192.168.3.101 You can use the following in ''masq'' file to achieve that: eth3:192.168.3.101 eth2 ----- Original Message ----- From: "john hedge" <johnhedge@gmail.com> To: <shorewall-users@lists.sourceforge.net> Sent: Tuesday, July 26, 2005 4:04 PM Subject: [Shorewall-users] Fooling a machine on one subnet that another (on a different subnet) is on the same subnet.
