How do you get shorewall to recognize all network interfaces?
Hello all: I have 5 interfaces configured and active on a machine. However, after i enter the command shorewall start and then do a ifconfig, only 1 interface is listed. Can someone please explain me as to why does this happen and how do you solve the above situation? Thanks a lot, Kavita Chhabria Systems Developer Apogent Technologies (269) 544-7515 <mailto:kchhabria@apogent.com> kchhabria@apogent.com

Is that what you are seeing? -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool Shoreline, \ http://shorewall.net Washington USA \ teastep@shorewall.net

If the above is an accurate description of your problem then the only cause that I can see would involve: a) ADD_IP_ALIASES=Yes in shorewall.conf b) The primary IP addresses of the four interfaces that are going down are appear in the EXTERNAL column of the /etc/shorewall/nat file. Note that in that file, the comments at the top specifically warn you to *not do that*. Hope this helps, -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool Shoreline, \ http://shorewall.net Washington USA \ teastep@shorewall.net
