This problem has absolutely nothing to do with Shorewall. Furthermore, given
the subject of your post and the above description it is difficult to tell
what it does concern; are you unable to log onto the system through the
console? If so, where does PPTP come into it?
If you are unable to log in as root, you can usually boot your system into
single user mode and change the root (or any) password from the command line
using the ''passwd'' utility. Check your distribution''s
documentation for
instructions for booting into single user mode.
If you are able to log in as root but not as a normal user then log in as root
and change the normal user''s password using ''passwd
<username>'' at a shell
prompt.
