Shorewall users - Aug 2003 - PPPD

I am looking for a vpn over the internet to a lan with shorewall as gateway from
xp or win2000 , it looks like pppd (potop) fits the Bill.

Questions:

1. If open VPN is in use already would this cause any trouble? From what I read
it would work.

2. I need to be able to connect to the lan at alternate locations with temporary
connections then sign off.

3. I noticed Tom uses XP for the pppd server, does that allow multiple
connections to the xp box? I am thinking you don''t have to recompile
the Kernel this way if you can connect in multiples (ie: Three xp clients
connecting through shorewall to XP Box in lan running as pppd server) .

If you are using a standard RH kernel, you don''t need to recompile for 
poptop -- just follow the links from the Shorewall PPTP page and get the 
''kernelmod'' package.

Yes -- so long as the clients have unique IP addresses when seen from the 
Shorewall box.
