I went to the Shorewall site and clicked on the Documentation link on the left hand side. Once this resolved I clicked on the link: Commands (Description of all /sbin/shorewall commands) I then get these two Browser generated security pop-ups below. (Security Warning) "The link file:/vfat/Shorewall-docs/starting_and_stopping_shorewall.htm leads from this untrusted page to your local filesystem. Do you want to follow the link?" (Follow or Cancle) I chose follow. And then get a Browser (Security Alert). "This untrusted page contains a link file:/vfat/Shorewall-docs/starting_and_stopping_shorewall.htm to your local file system." (OK) Linux is very new to me so I was just wondering why this is happened. In which directory are the shorewall docs located? Thanks, JBanks __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I found the Shorewall docs. But I''m still curious as to why I''m getting these Browser Security alerts?? > I found the Shorewall docs.Anyway, the desired document is here: http://shorewall.net/starting_and_stopping_shorewall.htm> But I''m still curious as to why I''m getting these > Browser Security alerts??That''s entirely up to your browser (you did not tell us which) and has nothing to do with Linux. It''s simply, that this link is defined wrong. The URL indeed points to a file:// location (and therefore to your local system), instead of the document it should. karsten -- Hi, I''m a signature virus. Thanks Karsten, I''m using Konqueror 3.0.3 (using kde 3.0.3) Still seems wierd. I tried putting: /vfat/Shorewall-docs/starting_and_stopping_shorewall.htm into my browser and it doesn''t find it. If I goto to / root and issue a (find -name vfat) for the file or (find vfat) for the directory, nothing exsists named vfat as far as I can tell. Anyways, if you have more to add please do. > I''m using Konqueror 3.0.3 (using kde 3.0.3)OK. So Konqueror warns you, when a public page (which is accessible by everybody) links to a page on your local machine (which is only accessible by you).> Still seems wierd. The person who has created the documents (I assume Tom) simply put a wrong link in the page. The file:// URL is valid on Toms machine, not on yours. It''s simply a wrong link and has nothing to do with your machine or Konqueror. karsten -- Hi, I''m a signature virus. Copy me into your ~/.signature to help me spread!
