Hi, can I block different programms to access the internet? For example, i want to block OpenOffice to access the internet, how must i setup my rules. I use webmin to configure shorewall. I don''t know the ports of these programms. Thanks for your help. Bye Daniel _________________________________________________________________ Fotos? - ?MSN Fotos das virtuelle Fotoalbum. I don''t know the ports of these programms. You can''t filter traffic depending on programs. shorewall, as it is a firewall, can only filter traffic depending on IPs and Ports. Every program can use any Port -- so you can''t know, what ports it uses. What you want is something like those ''Personal Firewalls'' for Windows. Controlling the communication of single Programs would really be a completely different approach from a firewall. You can search the archive for a little more Info, as that was asked some weeks ago. karsten -- Hi, I''m a signature virus. Copy me into your ~/.signature to help me spread!

A simple google serach should provide you with the information you need. - - --- Aaron Axelsen AIM: AAAK2 Email: axelseaa@amadmax.com Want reliable web hosting at affordable prices? www.modevia.com Web Dev/Design Community/Zine www.developercube.com - - -----Original Message----- From: shorewall-users-bounces@lists.shorewall.net [mailto:shorewall-users-bounces@lists.shorewall.net] On Behalf Of D I Sent: Thursday, March 06, 2003 5:55 AM To: shorewall-users@lists.shorewall.net Subject: [Shorewall-users] Block programms Hi, can I block different programms to access the internet? It can be ones as Tiny personal firewall (now Kerio) - that''s one I use on W2k, or Zone alarm. As was already told, you can''t find out which program do originate packet when it leaves machine''s network interface. I do not know whether there is an equivalent solution for Linux. At least I never heard of it. Dan
