Is it possible to add descriptions to the ports which don''t currently have one? For example, when I use ''Shorewall hits'', I am presented with a list of hits on the firewall. Some listed have descriptions such as 79, Finger, etc, whereas some don''t. I was thinking of adding the descriptions into /etc/services. Is this where Shorewall retrieves this information from? Thanks for your help.

It''s possible to edit /etc/services to your needs, but it''s easier to grab the tarball of nmap (http://www.insecure.org/nmap). In there you''ll find a much more detailed services file that you can use to replace /etc/services. That''ll save you lots of editing hassles. --Josh -----Original Message----- From: Neil Arnold [mailto:N.Arnold@btinternet.com] Sent: Friday, November 15, 2002 9:59 AM To: shorewall-users@shorewall.net Subject: [Shorewall-users] Adding descriptions Is it possible to add descriptions to the ports which don''t currently have one?
