Hey guys, I have had my network setup for about a year now, and it''s
been okay.though, I recently decided I''d like to setup it up to work
the
right way, using the same hardware I currently have.
I have a LinkSys router, which is also my gateway to the internet. It
connects to my cable modem, and any computers that connect to it, can
connect to the net, and each other, obviously.
Well, I have my linux server, which is also the DMZ, connected to a port
in the router. All ports on the router are used, and I didn''t have a
Hub or Switch, or anything at the time of my setup, but I did have an
extra Network card. So I hooked my network card into the linux system,
now it has two. I used one to connect to the router, and the other is a
Cross-over directly to my nic in the windows box, which is right next to
the linux server.
Well, I couldn''t figure out how to get them on the same subnet, or
whatever you would call it. So currently, my linux box has an IP of
192.168.1.102 (connected to router) and another of 192.168.2.102
(connected to windows box).
Well, as many of you may know, this prevents me from being able to share
files between windows or for me even being able to access the workgroup.
I want to correct this. Is there a way I can get both Nics on the same
subnet or something?
