[Shorewall-users] Quick note regarding Gentoo 1.2 and Shorewall
Tom, I have Shorewall (latest) configured and running on Gentoo Linux 1.2 without a=20 hitch. One thing I''d like to mention in the install script, in the end=20 routine you could probobly add this: elif [ -x /sbin/rc-update ]; then =09if rc-update add shorewall default; then =09=09echo -e "\nFirewall will start automatically at boot" =09else =09=09cant_autostart =09fi (tested here) All of the startup scripts are in /etc/init.d and can be removed with: rc-update del shorewall default There are only 3 runlevels by default. 1 is like init=3D1 on RH machine. 2 is=20 like init=3D3 on RH and 3 is a no-network runlevel. Hoe that wasnt too confusing ;-) Anyhow, if it helps, I''m glad to be of assistance. Please verify that I did it correctly. Do you need support for this in the shorewall.spec file also? -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Shorewall - iptables made easy AIM: tmeastep \ http://www.shorewall.net ICQ: #60745924 \ teastep@shorewall.net

Tom, CVS entry is correct. Since the OS doesn''t use RPM, I don''t see that this is necessary although it is possible to install RPM and use it, I haven''t done this since it''s package system is very nice. Use your own discression there. There may be some who can''t give up RPM.
