Shorewall users - Aug 2002 - syntax error not detected by check

Shorewall 1.3.6

in the rules file i''ve added :
ACCEPT  fw  net  tcp  http.https    # yes a . instead of a ,  small typo
!!!!

shorewall check does not report this , but at start time the error

iptables v1.2.5: invalid TCP port/service ''http.https''
specified

is displayed!

Do i use the check command wrong ( or do i musunderstand the meaning of the
check command)?

The check command provides a cursory check of the configuration. It 
never has and never will guarantee that the configuration will start.
