While it''s quiet here, does anyone know of a way around RedHat''s 32meg RAM minimum for installation? Sincerely, Jim Hubbard - Project Manager, VP
I thuoght I did something with using the swap space if you have a low amount of ram. --- Aaron Axelsen AIM: AAAK2 Email: axelseaa@amadmax.com URL: www.amadmax.com "It said, ""Insert disk #3,"" but only two will fit!" I used to install RH on 16MB systems using the text interface but that was version 6.x. I have retired all of my small memory systems now so I haven''t run into the problem. -Tom -- Tom Eastep \ Shorewall - iptables made easy AIM: tmeastep \ http://www.shorewall.net ICQ: #60745924 \ teastep@shorewall.net

Bootable CD-ROM drive or 3-1/2" floppy drive. I heard at my local LUG that the 32 Meg RAM minimum is a function of Redhat''s Anaconda. Other Linux distributions will install fine with less RAM. I personally think the 32 Meg RAM minimum is bogus and I hope Red Hat rethinks the way it installs its distribution. -- Joe

I installed via text mode interface without any problem. With 16 megs, RedHat 7.x installation craps out with "Not enough memory to install..." error, even if text mode is selected. 24 must be the cutoff point. The installation routine auto defaults to text mode at about <40megs or so, even if you select graphical.
