It understands special comments in boot scripts in /etc/rc.d/init.d that tell it what to name the symlinks. You can install the symlinks yourself.

[Shorewall-users] Shorewall on SuSE --- chkconfig dependency?
Hi all, I am trying to get Shorewall running on SuSE 7.3, since it has Freeswan precompiled (and I was failing at that with Red Hat). When installing the .rpm, I get the message ''chkconfig is needed by shorewall- 1.2-4'' I have forced the install with --nodeps, and it *appears* that shorewall does work. The proxy arp works and the subnet behind it is happy. Is there something deeper that will end up broken as a result, or is it safe to ignore this dependency? Thanks, Dan
