Because of that unfortunate choice on our side we need to stick with that kind of version scheme until 0.95 is out (well, unless we introduce an epoch): dpkg --compare-versions 0.94.dfsg lt 0.94.1.dfsg ; echo $? --> yields 1, that is, it does not hold, i.e. dfsg is sorted before 1.
