where is MySQL-zrm-client rpm package?
i was looking at options for backing up mysql databases across the net, and ran across this: http://www.zmanda.com/download-zrm.php clearly, there are two rpms for linux: * MySQL-zrm-2.2.0-1.noarch.rpm * MySQL-zrm-client-2.2.0-1.noarch.rpm but on a centos 5.4 system, if i do # yum search zrm i see only "MySQL-zrm.noarch". anyone know why the centos repo would only know about one of tho...

Rsync protocol specification
...ification of the protocols, or is the only way to learn the protocol to reverse engineer it from the source tree? Obviously, learning the protocol would be much simpler in the former way than the latter, but I'd appreciate any guides I can find. Is Amanda "vaulting" what I need for archiving data?
...at my solution use standard tools like dump/restore / gtar on the back end, which is how I ended up at Amanda. In looking through some of the initial configuration how-tos it seemed as though this was massively over-complex for my application. But then I hit upon "vaulting" http://wiki.zmanda.com/index.php/How_To:Copy_Data_from_Volume_to_Volume This is not exactly my scenario, but maybe there is another way to roll a "vaulting" solution to suit me. Basically I work in a scientific research lab (stem cell research) where the scientists produce a fair bit of raw data. We wan...

Licensing and Copyright
Hi all, I fear this discussion will quickly devolve into a recursive flame- fest, but it needs to be broached, so here we go. Note that I kind of think this is more of dev topic than users, but I want to make sure everyone knows the conversation is happening and can easily participate. This is also likely to be the first of a series of conversations I''ll be starting to try to

ZFS snapshot splitting & joining
Hello everyone, I am trying to take ZFS snapshots (ie. zfs send) and burn them to DVD''s for offsite storage. In many cases, the snapshots greatly exceed the 8GB I can stuff onto a single DVD-DL. In order to make this work, I have used the "split" utility to break the images into smaller, fixed-size chunks that will fit onto a DVD. For example: #split -b8100m

SDXC and the future of ZFS
Wouldn''t it be great if the opensolaris community creates a fs fzfs (for flash zfs) that could be the the filesystem for SDXC cards? Two main point for this are already there Sun is a member of SD Card Association and the code writting smart on a flash should be there as well with stuff of l2arc. I think that could give the opensolaris a more visiblie/ markting in the IT space and would

zfs list improvements?
To improve the performance of scripts that manipulate zfs snapshots and the zfs snapshot service in perticular there needs to be a way to list all the snapshots for a given object and only the snapshots for that object. There are two RFEs filed that cover this: http://bugs.opensolaris.org/view_bug.do?bug_id=6352014 : ''zfs list'' should have an option to only present direct
