Benchmark
This (see below) is what I found in the Samba Introduction Document.
Can anyone tell me where I can find the Ziff-Davis benchmark
tests?
Thanks a lot,

depmod madness
Hello,
What can I do when attempting to run depmod with these options:
-Ae -b base -F System.map
to prevent depmod from appending the following path:
lib/modules/2.6.18-53.1.14.el5/modules.dep.temp
to the specified base? I am specifying a base as:
-b ./lib/modules/2.6.16.23-custom
So depmod errors/fails with: FATAL: Could not open

FUD or foolishness? Windows XP Home and Samba

Re: Fix passwd/shadow/group files? -- Samba is not an enterprise ? irectory solution ...
...dle SMB signing and other protocol features (even ones that are mega-buggy in MS' own implementations)
At this point, Samba 3.0 is a _better_ SMB service for Windows 2000 than Windows Server 2003.
Microsoft has attested that it recommends only Windows XP Pro clients for full ADS 2003 support.
Ziff-Davis testing has shown this to be true.
Samba automagically optimizes for the client that is connecting,
with Microsoft giving up on performance/features on anything pre-NT5.1 (XP/2003).

Netbench running on Samba 1.9.18alpha4
I have installed the latest alpha of samba (1.9.18alpha4) with the
intent of testing against the Ziff-Davis benchmark NetBench. The
compile and install went OK, and I can see the server in the browser and
connect to the public share I created (logins work OK). Running the
tests in DIAGNOSIS.txt produces no errors also.
I can also install netbench and start up the controller from the binary

Improved share mode handling
----------------------------
The handling of share modes has been completely rewritten.
Samba can now run agressive PC Benchmarks (Ziff-Davis
NetBench) correctly with many hundreds of concurrent PC's.
The confidence level on share mode handling in Samba
is now much higher than it was previously. PC database
packages should be much safer when run against a
Samba share. Thanks to Silicon Graphics for testing
