printing problem
I'm testing a printserver with Samab/ Cups. Every time I want to upload the driver to samba for printing I get the following error: "Printer settings could not be saves. Access denied" I chmod 777 the driver directory and spool directory. I gave specified the user as printer admin in the share. My firewall is disabled. error: "printing subsystem unavailable" when trying t o print test page to samba server
I had that happen to me on w2k. Your spooler service is stopped. I had an invalid print driver entry in Samba and when I printed to any of the printers on my Samba server it would cause the service to stop. To fix it I replaced the printer tdb's and re-installed the drivers. Josh -----Original Message----- From: Klopf, Tom [mailto:Tom.Klopf@mms.gov] Sent: Wednesday, June 12, 2002

Printing eats my CPU
...x()): talloc_realloc failed to allocate more memory for data! meminfo shows a memory usage of 25 percent, swap space is not used. I use a 2.4.4 kernel with reiserfs - I remember that there was something with flocks on journaling fs - but can't find the posts. Any hints? Thanks. -- Martin Zielinski m.zielinski@seh.de

I wonder, if this is allways the wanted behaviour. Am I missing a flag or parameter? Early-userspace and swapping
I just recently posted a patch to the linux-kernel mailing list to move rootfs/initramfs from ramfs to tmpfs. Now I'd like to test this out better. Currently I'm only using initramfs to store data so I'm new the this klibc thing. Tommorrow I'm going to try to get klibc working to run some programs in early-userspace. From what I've read so far, i'll need a swapon

New Printers with Samba 3.14 driver upload
Hello Everybody, we got new networkprinters and set them up. They work fine, but driverupload doesn't seem to work. We deleted the drivers used by the printers we had before. My question is should I also delete the .tdb files associated with printing? I remember driverupload once worked well with the printers we had before. Any advice would be nice. Jan Kellerhoff

Hi, I use a Debian Sarge with samba 3.0.23c (from testing) and cups 1.1.23. For unexpected reason, some printers are sometime stopped (pause), and I need to start then again. There is no trace of a "stop" in the log of cups. (and I'm the only one who can pause them, anyway). here is an example : cat 10.lpr.log | grep imp-cao | grep -E "(stop|start)" Nov 10 14:15:41

Vanishing options in hp printer drivers
We're using a couple of HP printers (2200, 4200, 3390) using the HP PCL 6 printer driver. Printer drivers are installed on the samba (3.0.24) box, connecting, driver installation and printing work OK. Problem: using the same driver version with the printer shared by a windows box gives some additional options like - brochure printing - putting serveral pages on one sheet Any Idea why

Cups + Samba + Vista?
I have followed the various guides online for setting up Cups and Samba, to where you can just right click a print and choice connect and the printer just works but then it does not work with Vista. It seems to print out tons of junk. Is there a way to make Vista work with Cups + Samba?
