Fix available for mmap on FreeBSD zfs
Saw this just come through for 8-current, 7-stable ought to have it in a week or so. I have not encountered the problem so I would not be able to judge if this fixes it. Patch here: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/sys/contrib/opensolaris/uts/common/fs/zfs/zfs_vnops.c.diff?r1=1.27;r2=1.28 pjd 2008-03-15 23:23:04 UTC FreeBSD src repository Modified files: sys/contrib/opensolaris/uts/common/fs/zfs zfs_vnops.c Log: Fix mmap(2) on ZFS after some changes in VM subsystem. Help with filing a [maybe] ZFS/mmap bug.
Hi All, I have what I think is a ZFS related bug. Unfortunately my simplest test case is a bit cumbersome and I haven't definitively proven that the problem is ZFS related. I'm hoping for some feedback on how to move forward. Quick background: I rip my CD's using grip and produce flac files. I tag the music using Musicbrainz' Picard and transcode it to mp3's within Picard

Wierd ZFS interaction with sudo?
I''ve just installed express b28 on my system. After installing, I decided to move /opt to a zfs pool home/opt. After installing Blastwave''s latest sudo, I did my usual edits of sudoers. When I attempted to execute sudo ls to test things I got this: rtfm:/opt/csw/etc:>sudo ls sudo: /opt/csw/etc/sudoers is owned by gid 1, should be 0 But /opt/csw/etc/sudoers permissions

Refactor zfs_zget()
Hi, Since almost all operations in the FUSE low-level API identify files by inode number, I''ve been using zfs_zget() to get the corresponding znode/vnode in order to call the corresponding VFS function in zfs_vnops.c. However, there are some cases when zfs_zget() behaves slightly different than I need: 1) If zp->z_unlinked != 0 then zfs_zget() returns ENOENT. I need it to return the znode anyway, otherwise an open() followed by an unlink() followed by an fstat() would return ENOENT. 2) In the end of...

recommended setup for amd64 7-STABLE with ZFS, Samba 3.2 and possibly ACLs?
Hi, could anyone give recommendations (or share experience) regarding using ZFS: - FreeBSD 7-Stable (amd64 with 8GB RAM) + special tuning necessary (apart from increasing kernel memory to 1 or more GB for ZFS) - Samba 3.2 + ACLs possible directly under ZFS? + recommended compile options? - NFS - email (imap) - jails (I have seen some problems exist with using snaphots within

kernel panic caused by zfs/sa.c
Hello, I'm experiencing a kernel panic that appears to be caused by zfs. No errors are making it into /var/log/messages, but here is the error message that appears on my screen after panic (transcribed): panic solaris assert BSWAP_32(sa_hdr_phys->sa_magic) == SA_MAGIC, file: /src/sys/modules/zfs/../../cddl/contrib/opensolaris/uts/common/fs/zfs/sa.c, line 1262 I can reproduce this by

...Arg list too long", when trying to send incremental backups (b89 -> b101). Do you know about any bugs related to that? I did a look on the archives, and google but could not find anything. What i did find was something related with wrong timestamps (32bits), and some ZFS test on the code: zfs_vnops.c. But the error is EOVERFLOW... ZFS and memcntl(..., MC_SYNC, ...)
It wouldn''t be proper to start my first post here without congratulations and thanks to the ZFS team for such an impressive piece of work. Anyway, on to my query. I''ve been trying out ZFS, with a particular focus in reducing latency in a specific application. This application has a fair amount of random writing going on in the background (which, of course, ZFS will make
