ices2 metadata update causes gaps
...ot; from ices2. The bumps aren't happening. It's got to be in icecast2! Now, I know that the current version of icecast has fixes that make it work with Helix (which would give up at stream boundaries). Perhaps it fixes it. Off to grab the new version and test... -- Paul Martin <pm@zetnet.net> (work) <pm@nowster.zetnet.co.uk> (home)

AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
...even kicks ass in my view. Is that 24kbps AACPLUS a full 44.1kHz stereo signal with frequencies preserved up to at least 15kHz? (Just curious, not criticising.) As a datapoint, Vorbis aotuv b4 gives acceptable quality with q=-1.001 44.1kHz stereo at approximately 44kbps. -- Paul Martin <pm@zetnet.net> (work) <pm@nowster.zetnet.co.uk> (home)

ices2 metadata update causes gaps
...update the metadata). Because I'm doing crossfades from one track to another, this shows up. If you were just playing one track after another, letting them play to the end before starting the next one, updating the metadata between tracks, you wouldn't notice it. -- Paul Martin <pm@zetnet.net> (work) <pm@nowster.zetnet.co.uk> (home)

AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
Windows 98 is totally obsolete and useless. WindowsXP is a completely different architecture for just about everything except the name Windows. You owe it to yourself to check out WindowsXP, even though it is subsidized by the "eveil empire." :) -g. Why does ov_open fail?

PostFish question
I've been tinkering with vgplay (my fp gain function and replaygain support code) as well as looking at FLAC replaygain code, with an eye to combining them into a general gain effect plugin helper, however I noticed that the November 19, 2003 Ogg Traffic talks about postfish, being a sound postprocessor with a noise filter and 'a revolutionary declipping filter', that Monty is

New release of aoTuV
For those who missed it, there's a new release of aoTuV (beta 4.5). According to Aoyumi-san, there's some new tuning for audio below quality set 3 (-q3), but I have not tested it myself yet. I wonder when Monty will actually check the new versions of aoTuV and merge them with main trunk. Latest tests on HA show the latest tunings of Aoyumi-san have matured Vorbis a lot, and

Project to get Vorbis running in Curl
Hi list, I'm looking into getting OggVorbis support put together for the Curl language (a Linux version is coming out before the end of the year www.curl.com), and am wondering if I could get some *newbie* help... Which of the APIs in vorbisfile are absolutely needed to decode a Vorbis file? I want to keep things simple to start off with and see if I can get Vorbis and Curl working on the
