Strange issue with share access on domain controllers
Hi,
No change
According to netbios aliases documentation, it only modify NETBIOS
announce, but I'm using DNS to access the host (and it is correctly
resolved since smbclient access works, shares list works on windows)
Regards

Strange issue with share access on domain controllers
Hi list,
I've a strange issue with Windows 7 (also occurs on 8.1) when accessing
shares on domain controllers. If I use IP address or in-domain FQDN
(server.domain.name), all is right. If I use another DNS entry pointing
to the same IP, share access fails with following message (translated
from french) :
\\somehost.somsuffix\someshare is not accessible. […] Invalid parameter

...can run it on small hardware or VMWare (or both) for free vs a Server + MS license ($2k). RODC support would be nice as well because no one is editing the directory from out there!
Has there been any development on this subject? Should I file a bug?

Identify AD Domain User processes from top
Is there a way to take the effective user output from top and figure out
which AD Domain User is indicated by the smbd process?

Bi-directional sync for Sysvol folder -- Osync?
Hi,
I was thinking about bidirectional sync of sysvol and i've a question:
?What about DRBD?. You can create a disk partition in every node, create a
DRBD cluster and then mount that partition on sysvol folder. The
sincronization is bidirectional and in real time.
For now i've not tested this option, but i've plans to start some tests.
What is your opinion about this?
Greetings!!

Im did not follow the complete thread, but you can check the following.
smb.conf
## map id's outside to domain to tdb files.
idmap config *:backend = tdb
idmap config *:range = 50001-80000
## map ids from the domain the range may not overlap !
idmap config DOMAIN:backend = ad
idmap config DOMAIN:schema_mode = rfc2307
idmap config DOMAIN:range = 10000-40000

samba 4 domain join to win 2008r2 level DC w/ a schema with exchange 2010 extensions: replication after the join is broken
I tried to join a samba4 to a win2008r2 level domain (OS level 2012) running exchange 2010.
The join succeeds but the later replication is broken due to schema differences.
In order to to find the cause, I started a test setup with:
* a win2008r2 DC w/ minimal AD
* upgraded the schema and the OS to 2012 (function level is still 2008r2)
* and added a exchange server to the domain.
And that is

sites and services and automatic creation of replication connections in NTDS Settings
Hello.
I want to test a multi-site setup w/ replication to a central DC only.
In a test scenario I have set up a central samba4 DC (sernet-samba 4.1.12-9).
For provisioning I have used the --site=central, so no Default-First-Site-Name has been created on provisioning, just 'central'.
In AD Site & Services I have unchecked the "Bridge all site links" in "Inter-Site

Bi-directional sync for Sysvol folder -- Osync?
Just some notes:
For master <-> master setup (bi-directional sync) you need AFAIK a cluster filesystem.
I have no idea how far this is supported w/ samab (ACLs, ...)
Maybe a old tool related to drbd might be worth some testing too:
