[LLVMdev] Meaning of byval?
...passes? In other words, is it possible for the opt tool to output code that doesn't work (without other passes being run later)? Or is there some meaning to byval that makes it valid - I guess it would have to mean that implementations need to create a copy in the called function? Best, Alon Zakai

At this point, I believe I've got reasonable implementations for all the instructions, primitives and derived types. I haven't gotten around to most of the intrinsics but I thought it would be a good idea to start getting some feedback before going much further. If anyone has the time and

...passed on the stack, so the copy is done in the caller, in effect. It's a little puzzling to me that the unoptimized LLVM assembly also creates an explicit copy in the assembly (allocating it & doing a memcpy), but I guess it gets optimized out later so it doesn't matter. Best, Alon Zakai

[LLVMdev] Upstreaming PNaCl's IR simplification passes
The PNaCl project has implemented various IR simplification passes that simplify LLVM IR by lowering complex features to simpler features. We'd like to upstream some of these IR passes to LLVM. We'd like to explore if this acceptable, and if so, how we should go about doing this. The immediate reason is that Emscripten is reusing PNaCl's IR passes for its new "fastcomp"

...y as a fun hacking project over the holidays, but I'm posting it here in case anyone thinks it might be useful for something - maybe to teach people LLVM IR in a simple way (no need to install anything, just visit a website). If it is potentially useful it can be optimized and polished etc. - azakai
