I've always HATED printing with Samba
Primarily because I've never gotten it to work despite frequent efforts. Offeding printer is a Lexmark Z53 (supposedly fully supported) and when ever I try to add it to an XP box I get "Server doesn't have the right driver, do you wish to upload the driver?" then when I do it says "Cannot connect to the printer. Contact your network administrator yatta yatta yatta." Releva...

POSTSCRIPT PRINTING THROUGH SAMBA AND LEXMARK Z22
Hi, i have the lexmark Z22 printer. If I print a test page through RedHat's printtool in .ps format it works fine, but not ascii. So, i'm wondering how I can change samba so it prints it in a .ps format through the share, I assume that's probably the problem. THX

windows client use Linux printer
Hi, Well, my previous attempt to get info on that matter was lame and therefore no one replied. Here is a second attempt. I need info about how to configure samba server and the windows (2000) client to use a printer on the samba server machine. I read the article: http://de.samba.org/samba/ftp/docs/htmldocs/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.html#AEN833 but all I got from it was confusion. I need a

Mdk 9.1, samba-LDAP 2.2.8a/3.0b3 (LDAP) can't print to z53
I've not been able to get Samba to print to a Lexmark Z53. If I call it a Z52, the driver uploads (to where, I have no idea so I can't check it) but I still can't get anything out of the printer.

lpr printing using samba
Hello, I have samba set up on a solaris 8 box. I set up a printer using an lpr port. When I send a job from a client through the queue on the samba box to the printer, the job shows up on the printer queue with the job name changed to a generic name such as smb20***. Does any one know why this is happening. Is there a configuration file that needs to be edited to allow the job name to pass through

Samba and CUPS... Driving Me Psychotic
I have set up samba 2.2.2 (debian package 2.2.2-2, actually). Files are shared out (though Win98 doesnt like my valid users lines, a task for another day). However, it hits the fan when I try to share out my printer to my win2000 system (note: I can print from the server). Ive been through DIAGNOSIS.txt and the HOWTO collection, which didnt help, unless I missed something. Here are some relevant

Win2K Printer "Access Denied" Error
Hello, I have a new RH 7.2 installation (kernel 2.4.7-10) with Samba 2.2.1a and I can't print from my Win2K box. I get an "Access denied: unable to connect" error from the printer entry in Windows. Printing to FreeBSD server from XP using samba
A couple of days ago I set up my printer on my FreeBSD server and set it up so I could print from my FreeBSD client. This all works very well, printing from botht the server and the FBSD client. However, I also have samba set up for file serving with an XP box. I have been trying for quite some time now to set samba up to enable me to print from the XP client. My situation at the moment is that

Bidirectional printers, LPRng, and Samba...
Does anyone have any hints or suggestions on getting some JetDirect-based printers set up for bidirectional printing in Samba? We're using LPRng 3.8.0, ifhp 3.4.7, and samba 2.2.2 From the LPRng standpoint, the printers seem to be set up for bidirectional communication fine.. but how do we get Samba to allow bidirectional communication? Thanks in advance! Glenn --- Glenn E. Sieb,

Printer question: Generic postscript from windows
I have a lexmark Z53 attached to a linux samba server. My native windows clients and my linux clients (thanks to linux support from lexmark) can print to it with no problem. However, when I use windows over win4lin, the drivers don't install. They always fail with a spool32 error. This happens with the lexmark z32...

No print to Samba (Linux) printer from Win98
I'm stuck. I have Samba running on my Red Hat 7.2 Linux box. I can mount by remote dirctory on the Linux box via Samba. But I can't print to the Linux printer. I have a Linux printer installed and I can print to it using lpr. I have a printer configured in Samba and can see that from the Win98SE box. I've clicked on the Samba printer name and configured a Win98 printer.
