[LLVMdev] Build breaks in lib/CodeGen
I checked recent revisions 138624 and 138620 and both produce this log with gcc-4.6.0 on FreeBSD-8.2-STABLE amd64: gmake[2]: Entering directory `/usr/home/yuri/llvm-svn/llvm-objects/lib/CodeGen' llvm[2]: Compiling LLVMTargetMachine.cpp for Release build /usr/home/yuri/llvm-svn/llvm/lib/CodeGen/LLVMTargetMachine.cpp:253:3: error: ‘AsmStreamer’ does not name a type

[LLVMdev] Compiler warnings with gcc-4.7.1
I just switched gcc from 4.6.2 to 4.7.1 and see the massive amount of warnings, see few examples below. They mostly didn't exist with gcc-4.6.2. rev.159224 Yuri /usr/home/yuri/llvm-2012-06/latest-unpatched/llvm-fix/include/llvm/ADT/PointerUnion.h:56:10: warning: enumeral mismatch in conditional expression:

[LLVMdev] Compiler warnings with gcc-4.7.1
-Wenum-compare is buggy / bogus. We should turn this warning off in our build scripts if possible. [LLVMdev] Null pointer dereference
Thank you for your response Jim. As of revision 153342 it applies properly to trunk. No, unfortunately I don't have access, would you please commit it for me? Is there a python binding, or any other script binding, that has access to individual instructions?
There is llvmlite http://llvmlite.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ , but it doesn't seem to support reading individual instructions, based on these docs. I was thinking to make a simple code analysis tool to, for example, find all system calls that have unchecked return codes, but I can't find a binding for any scripting language. And I am averse to writing this in C++. Thanks, Yuri

[LLVMdev] [patch] New feature: debug info in add2line format (--jit-emit-debug-addr2line)
This new option will allow to output function information in the same format as addr2line from binutils emits: ... 0xABCDEF01 T function_name_is_here ... This feature is useful to profile the code when it is run in JIT by external tools like valgrind and google-perftools. For example, google-perftools runs addr2line on executable and uses the resulting file to resolve memory addresses to

[LLVMdev] Why llvm values can't start with %1?
After I manually modified .ll file deleting %0 I am getting this error from llvm-as: lvm-as: my.ll:43:3: error: instruction expected to be numbered '%0' %1 = tail call noalias i8* @malloc(i32 8) nounwind ; <i8*> [#uses=1] ^ So now I have to also rename all other %<NUM> variables? Why llvm is so strict with naming? I think it should just accept whatever names are there

[LLVMdev] Non-standard labels
> Is this just a textual/syntactic thing?  If so, you should add a bit to MCAsmInfo to indicate that this is the behavior, and MCAsmPrinter should be changed to emit labels in this syntax. Thanks! This should be enough. -Yuri

[LLVMdev] --enable-shared doesn't build shared library any more
In r134967 it still worked, and in r137742 it now doesn't. I used such flags: --enable-assertions --enable-shared --enable-libffi --enable-debug-runtime --enable-debug-symbols --disable-optimized Before build would create directory tools/llvm-shlib under the build tree. Now it is missing. Yuri

Submitted a patch, got pluses, what now?
Hello Rails people, I submitted a patch recently to get rid of an annoying exception raised when an AR object is created - http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/10556 , had some people review it, got some pluses... What am I supposed to do now? Can anybody advise or just review the patch and take care of the issue? Thanks! -- Best regards, Yuri Leikind
