Samba-4.10.4 strange behaviour
Hi Felix,
thanks for the share.
Sadly it doesn't work and I don't know how to start debugging this one.
I tried your config (had to switch from domain member to standalone) but it's the same:
[global]
??????? netbios name = yourName
??????? workgroup = yourWorkgroup
??????? realm = YourRealm
??????? log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
??????? max log size = 50
??????? security = ads
??????? clustering = yes
??? ??? max protocol = SMB3
? ? ?? ? kernel share modes = no
?? ? ? ? kernel change notify = no

Samba-4.10.4 strange behaviour
Hello All,
I'm new to the list and I don't have much of experience with samba.
I have a test setup on CentOS 7.8 with samba-4.10.4 and samba-vfs-glusterfs .
When my client mounts the samba share via vers=1.0 , the user sees the share properly (uid,gid,mode are just like on gluster). When the share is mounted with vers=2.0 or not specified (anything higher) the files are owned by

About: pdbedit command
Hi ,
I followed the instruction from
http://directory.fedoraproject.org/wiki/Howto:Samba
I am stuck again at the step "modify the account to use the correct
Samba SID :"
# pdbedit -U $( net getlocalsid | sed 's/SID for domain YOURWORKGROUP
is: //' )-500 -u Administrator -r
I got the error when execute above command.
Is it correct if I change to:
# pdbedit -U S-1-5-21-2507473568-579790812-2693568551-500 -u
Administrator -r
Note::
S-1-5-21-2507473568-579790812-2693568551 is my server SID.
Thank you and Best Regards,
Tom

new to samba, please advise...
...user/filename
Since I need other people to be able to access and
update these files, I used a "dummy" username.
Someone had suggested a different way, using samba,
but I can't get it to work.
/home/httpd/html/wp
create samba share in /etc/smb.conf

workgroup = YourWorkGroup
security = share

netbios name = NameOfThisComputer

path=/home/httpd/html/wp

volume = WordPerfectDocs
browseable = yes
writable = yes
create the user wpuser on the lin...

If you log into the server using smbclient you should see a line of
output something like this:
Domain=[YOURWORKGROUP] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 2.0.9]
where the "Server=[]" part tells what is actually running on the server.
