AD<->Linux: Thoughts
...ank. But it's not much I can do about this. Windows clients are a majority, only some of the clients are Linux... Now, the customer seems to be bitten by the "must upgrade because there's newer versions" bug (as opposed to the 'standard' UNIX way - "only upgrade if you'r absolutly forced" I'm used to :). The Linux version this time is open for discussion (SuSE have been mentioned - have no opinion there). But the SFU part is the main problem. Quite naturaly, the customer have also grown weary about this. To many problems, to many 'unexplained...

4.8R and $FreeBSD$ version tag expansion
I noticed that there were quite a few files with version ids of '$FreeBSD$' when I ran mergemaster after an install of 4.8R. This isn't right is it? What are the consequences of installing over your files with unexpanded version ids? I would like to build a release(make release) and want to know if I can continue or if this is going to be a problem for future upgrades/mergemaster runs. I compiled and installed from source that was supped around 9:30am this morning. I keep a local repos...

Restoring single DC virtual machine
...Samba_AD_DC, but it is still noted as a draft. I have also read https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/d2cae85b-41ac-497f-8cd1-5fbaa6740ff and it seems that the problems, when restoring a VM backup, comes only from replication between DC. This makes me think that it would be OK, but what do you think ? Regards, Yvan

SAMBA Groups and Permissions
hi i have a user ~# id test_user uid=500,gid=500 (users),groups (users,kids) as you can see, this user is in primary group "users" and also member of group "kids" if he tries to access /home/board via smb (Samba 3.0 + openldap) from a windows client (XP), he fails, because his sambaPrimaryGroupSID maps to -> "users" and /home/board is not acce...

I confirm that Malte M?ller says. Sorry. But your A, B, C, X, whaterver makes reading your post more confusing than it helps, to explain what problem you're having. :-) You'r problem is, that you can't access a share from XP, but you can from different OS, right? (if not, retry to explain in simple words, without A, B,... :-)) Pleas...

Darkice memory leak
I was looking more closely on the source for Darkice. I found the code for calulating the buffersize somewhat strange. Your is snapshot taken from the init function in CastSink.cpp : int bufferSize = bitRate ? (bitRate * 1024 / 8) * bufferDuration : (128 * 1024 / 8) * bufferDuration; bufferedSink = socket ? new BufferedSink( socket,...

voice quality
Hi all, I wonder who has the same voice quality problem as what we have. Below is our configuration. Company --- asterisk 1.4.22 (g729) --- CISCO --- T1 --- customer Sometimes, customers told me that they heard our voice not very clear, like a call from far far away. I heard the recording is ok and there is no such effect in it. Can I assume the following? -voice quality is ok in asterisk as

[Re: icecast2 ??]
Dear list, I agree with the main points that have been stated here lately -- icecast2 appears not ready for prime time (because of lack of web presence / tarball and rpm downloads / some documentation on line) and icecast1 community needs a support forum if this list no longer is one. It would be so simple to spell out the statuses on www.icecast.org -- Status of icecast1, status of
