Background Colors
...there a way to make different parts of the background for the plot
different colors?
For example, I'd like to have the background color col = (250,250,0,50) for
y = c(200,204), and col = (250,125,0,50) for y = c(210,212).
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for the help,
Gabe

Aggregate and select mode
...y real database. Running this produces many
warnings, because there are multiple modes of v2 for many values of v1. My
database is also rather large (~700,000 rows), and I'm wondering if there is
a faster way to get R to process these data.
Thank you for your help and consideration,

Plotting Ellipses and Points of Matching Colors in an Ordination
...om.mds, comm4, col = "green3", label = TRUE,
lty = 3))
My two questions:
1. How do I make the ellipse color match the color of the points each
ellipse represents?
2. How do I label those ellipses, without drawing the dashed lines as per
ordispider()?
Many thanks,
Gabe

Boxplot Fill Pattern
Hello R Help!
I would like to make a legible boxplot of tree growth rates for each of
seven tree species at each of seven different sites. It's a lot of data to
put on one figure, I know. I made a beautiful, interpretable figure using
color, but my target journal can't deal with color figures. I can use seven
shades of grey to fill the boxes, but the figure then becomes
uninterpretable -
