...rver (not sure wether AGP is enabled or not) so I ran wine/winamp on my machine and displayed on a windows box using xwin32. I had X locally shut down. The system still crashed. Ok, I did use the 0.9.0beta4 ALSA sound drivers which could have such errors, so I tried the kernel sound driver instead (ymfpci) and still remote display. wine/winamp still caused a system freeze. The I tried a non-wine player, xmms as well as mpg123. Both played several songs (xmms still playing). ...trying to fix this for a couple of weeks now without any luck. I'm hoping someone here can offer some help. I Replaced my mainboard and CPU about a month ago. The new board has on-board sound as did my old mainboard, but the new board uses an Intel8x0 sound chip, the old board had a Yamaha YMFPCI chipset. Because of the difference in sound systems I needed to rebuild the ALSA drivers and decided to get the latest from ALSA. This also required a kernel upgrade, from 2.4.20 to 2.6.2. WineOSS hardlock with a Yamaha YMF-744 sound card

...er, Wine hangs up my whole system (as described by me in Wine Bug #2579). From what I have learned, this is caused by a kernel bug, but I can't fix it as I only found Andreas Mohr's patch for SB16-compatible cards (http://lkml.org/lkml/2002/6/16/45), while I'm using a Yamaha sound card (ymfpci.c kernel driver). When I disable the sound in the ~/.wine/config file, all applications run fine. Any ideas of what I can do to solve the problem?
